Dear Raja Sen, This is the first time I am reading something sensible from you. I saw it yesterday and the movie conveys a lot even though the medical science may not agree with it. An excellent movie and you had written it well. You always used to write crap stuffs, but this one is exceptional. The movie could have been slipped into a third rate melodrama and Ajay handled it brilliantly. He maintained a balance through out. I had been reading some comments and surprised by seeing why our people always expecting third rate massalas like Om Santi om like typical SRK craps. One possible drawback is that the movie may not be that much enjoyable to kids/ teenagers / youngsters which constitutes a major slice of our theater crowd. As expected, lots of scenes were recreated from Hollywood movies, which is not at all considered as a sin in Bollywood these days. This reminds me an excellent movie about Alzheimer in malayalam in the recent past called Thanmathra (Molecule). Happy to see Bollywood is attempting to make good movies

Dear anoop, u said it , and show the courage . good keep it up, i am strongly support u in this matter especially u quote Thanmatra( Molecule) if some one saw this film and try to understand what is acting from great Mohanlal. Hats of to u Ajay Devgan
I am a fan. No seriously. I do read all of your reviews on rediff and enjoy reading them. And so I have to tell you about a realization which came to me watching UMH yesterday. I enjoy reading reading your reviews for those movies which I am never going to watch more than those which I am going to. The former being decidedly the majority. In the case of the latter, your review is best read post-movie watching. And the reason is- it's a discussion of the film, more than a recommendation in terms of no. of tomatoes. Take for example UMH- the scenes with the vodka/ tequila, the getting late, the infant-I could see them coming- which wasn't the intent was it? It's a loaded question though- how much to tell and how much not.. But I have a suggestion- use the following yardstick for a review: will it suit your conversation with a guy waiting outside the theatre? And then maybe 2-3 weeks after release (and maybe once you have more time to think/ reflect as well)- a more 'discussionary' article.
