U Me Aur Hum was an awesome movie. The story was just great, and the acting of both Ajay and Kajol was just fabulous. This movie had so many big messeges. For example, this movie gives you the message that when you make a promise you should always fulfill that promise. This movie also had a very strong messege that when your life partner is in trouble you shouldn't turn away and leave them alone, instead you should still look at life with a positive prospective, and make the dismal moments in life into jovial moments. When i saw this movie i was very touched. I have to say that this movie is a must see for everyone.
The best film i have watched in past few years giving some strong moral for those who are married. Thanks to Ajay for making such a great film. I am still wondering.......

50 first dates is where drew Barrymore suffers from short term memory Loss and is caused by an accident, there's no accidents in u me Aur Hum, drew Barrymore wakes up every morning thinking it's the day before She had the accident whereas Kajol in u me Aur hum doesn't b stuck in a Specific date, she just forgets certain things, if u think Alzheimer And short term memory loss are the same then u really needs to do some Research. Adam Sander in 50 first dates has to remind who he is to drew Barrymore and everything they done together, whereas that doesn't work For Alzheimer sufferers so Ajay can't do that.
The only similarity between 50 first dates and u me Aur hum is that the Main lead actress suffers from an illness and the similarity between Notebook and u me Aur hum is that it is being narrated by someone. I'm Not saying Bollywood doesn't plagiarise/copy/borrow ideas and concepts But this was an original movie and storyline. There is a an Indian Version of 50 first dates though i think it's called Chandni Ki Kahani, not Sure about notebook though.
The movie is not a rip off at all... The movie has a similar theme but I wouldn't call it a rip off..This movie is original in its way because having a similar theme would not make it a rip off. Notebook was a triangle love story, class clash rich and poverty theme, and still being together, they don't show going through alzheimer troubles young in their life...she develops it when she got older..Plus U me aur hum is a couple getting married and coping with a mental disability of other spouse...the whole second half was about that, there was no rich and poverty clash, parents against the marriage, there were some similarities...like him painting the house white for her, in the notebook he renovates it for her, and Ajay telling her story in the beginning...but it wouldn't be a rip off, rip off is when they copy everything and do not add something new to the story at all. This was very different in many aspects..his friends got more screen time than in notebook...so they can be called part of the story as well..The kid drowning, did remind of A beautiful Mind, Russel crowe left his kid in the bath tub....this had some similarities with A beautiful MInd when the marriage dealing with mental condition of one of the partners....but I think U ME Aur Hum should not be called a rip off a notebook, maybe story premise can be inspired..but thats it..Notebook itself i think is based on a novel, and there is a oriental movie, a moment to remember...on the similar theme...U can't say this

this is a nice post. in every walk of life we all tend to inspire from something or the other.. n it cant be called plagiarism ..
if u all can see nobody is talking abt krazzy 4 where the producer literally stolen 2 songs from somebody else. everybody is behind umah. If this is the case wht u all will tell to the films like ghajni(aamir khan) and biloobarber which are copy of south films. ???????
the movie is a masterpiece which can be called once in a decade movie for its sheer cinematic brilliance and wonderful directorial skills.

I know, a film will only be a rip off if the storyline and everything is copied, however Ajay smartly used similar theme with so many alteration to the story and gave a different memorable scenes, it is called inpiration not a rip-off, i think people who call it rip-off are Sharukh fans, this film is way smarter than films like KKHH and DDLJ.

The story is borrowed from a Korean movie..i have seen that one..though it is not a scene to scene copy..and there is lot of things added by devgan..but the the concept of story and structure is copied...i will story is copied 80 %..but the movie is copied 20 % from that korean movie
