KANK was a wonderful movie. How long will we hide from the truth and how long will we idly boast of India's 'family values'? Such things do happen even in India. So he showed it. What's wrong? Shed hypocricy. And remember, India is not the only country with family values. This is an age-old misconception. Every country has it's share of family, culture, tradition and what-have-you.

Its not bad that he showed it but the way and reasoning behind it, why those two people had an extra marital affair when their spouses were close to perfect is out of my reach. If you want to make a point you gotta give a proper reason, karan johar is an immature masala director and nothing more.

I am not against him making a movie on EMA. Other directors like Mahesh Bhatt et al. have made movies on Extra Marital Affair ard 2 decades ago. But I could not find any logic behind finding soulmates after marriage. Rani and SRK should have just fallen for each other, go to the hotel room and have sex. The whole melodrama of "Oh you are my soulmate" was a crap. And that last train scene- that was beyond my reach. I'd rather enjoy Emraan Hasmi's extra marital story...
Hats off to you all guys who had the patience to read this long boring article... We all have our opinion on the cinema we like and dont need anyone's gyan to make our opinion...!
I don't understand how can u devide cinema by calling them Populer and meaningful...?A popular film can be meaningful...Rang de basanti is a glowing example of it.A Meaningful cenema can be popular as well...Black is a good examle...same way because u've made some blockbuster films it doesn't mean that u made good films.Today Rakhi Sawant is so called popular celebrity but we all know what she's got.well ofcorse we all have right to make whatever we believe n think but the standards to judge a film remains the same...u made a blockbuster film great good for u n people who like it but if its ordinary stuff in terms of content, perfomance, screenplay then well...A good filmmaker knows it more than anyone else.

well said krunal..u r absolutely right...u take karan johar, sajid khan, farah khan.. all for box office records but no meaningful cinema...they want to please the fron benchers thats it....some extent blame it on us also..we stupids still watch their crap.. and they know that....

agreed with u,its because people in here don't appreciate good movies here thats why good cinema suffers and stupid movies made by stupid people like karan johar gets good response from people who doesn't understand cinema and art

filmmakers like karan johar, farah khan, sajid khan etc only care for box office and to ensure box office success they can go to any extent to make the crap work. There is no honesty whatso ever at the creativity level. No doubt audience is the loser.

agian my dear friend i couldn't have said it better, sajid khan i used to see his comedy (if u call it comedy) serial on TV and he used to thrash every movie being a copy of foriegn movie but when he made one he did nothing less to steal can't these people have something creative ?
If TV is a idiot box, movies made by Karan johar is nothing less idiotic. Movies made by him cater only to the NRI crowd who think India is what they see in movies. People like Karan Johar add to this skewed thinking and are not only spoiling the film industry but also the cultural fabric of this country by depicting India in a wrong way. People like him must be exiled for ever. Let him make movies in the US/UK.

Mr Prasanth, Dont forget he has given some gud hits accept KANK. This means people like to watch his movies. It doesn't matter if it is idiotic or intellectual one. Only one thing matters and that is 'box office collections'...

The problem is not with the concept, but with the logic, execution and results in the movie. Extramarital affairs was not a novel idea. There were a couple of more hindi movies made on extra marital affairs. The problem was beyond logic as to why extra marital affair is happening and what is the motive behind such an ending. In a movie you expect to see a more detailed reasoning of the crux on which the movie is built. Though they showed some reason for Shahrukh's case but they did not show any reason for Rani behaving in such an absurd manner. They nither showed her to be psychologically traumatised nor physically abused or sexually dissatisfied. Every person has a reason for action. They showed none there.

so u r going to stop people from having extra marital affairs. kyun public ko gyan de kar dimag kharan karta hai yaar...

I don't think one should be physically abused etc to go for EMA. That is mis- conception again. many of my colleagues have good married life but enjoying EMA at work. It is just happening. What I hated about this movie called KANK is that KJo tried to justify such act by giving the name "finding soulmates" and he actually made then sing and dance...That was pathetic....

even though i don't like karan-srk movies, i think SRK is doing what a businessman would do, selling and making profits from the market. now a days, movie is not about story or acting,it's about entertaining. most of the movies are based on NRIs (and their problems ??), which i think is most irritating for the indian audience. But anyway, these ABCDs (American Born Confused Desis) will watch anything related to them. So, if you are ever going to watch a Bollywood movie, be sure that the only thing you've done right in the 3 hours is to finish the popcorn
