NO. Bollywood is right now raining off beat films whereas in tamil industry a pathetic "Chennai 28" also is hailed as a classic off-beat. This talk of Tamil movie industry taking over bollywood was in Roja/Bombay era -- that is a bygone era (in which bollywood was stagnant) ...now Bollywood is the only big industry which is literally raining off-beats. In south indian languages even if a off-beat films a non-glamorous hero can throw 10 people n air with a swing of his hand!! They are plain pathetic - so even if the storyline is good they fail in execution - which is pure masala.

BHOOL BHULAIYA IS NOT MADE FROM CHANDRAMUKHI...ITS MADE FROM MANICHITRATHAZHU ..THE MALAYALM MOVIE. CHANDRAMUKHI HAD DIFFERENT TREATMENT TO MATCH RAJANIKANTHS AND TAMIL AUDIENCE TASTE.

If Gandhi was parodied like this, all hell would have broken loose
by kp kp on Oct 03, 2007 03:42 AM

But Hindu icons are fair game. There would be tons of protests and threats if Gandhi were parodied even lightly. Recently, somebody in USA had made a mimicry video of Gandhi-like person stripping and dancing on a pole and it generated so much protests from Indians and Indian politicians that he had to pull down the video from My Tube web site and offer public apology. But don't hold your breath when Hindu Deities are insulted - it is those who protest such insults will be ridiculed and called names.

I agree that music is different being somewhat derived from latin american music and picturisation is also not too vulgar...
but, dont tell me that there are no "half-clad women" in that video.
I was expecting something like a college gang video or video on friendship...

well, there is no forced nudity or showcasing of it.. the female dancers in that video are wearing stuff that girls typically wear when they go out..
the beginning of the video kinda reminded me of my college days when i hung out with my friends and trying to woo ladies.. :-)

chadramukhi was remake of kannada movie ''Aptha mitra''
by Shan on Oct 02, 2007 10:10 PM  | Hide replies

I agree that Manichitrathazhu in malayalam was original but that was made long back. chandramukhi was made only because of huge success of kannada movie "Aptha mitra"

Boss AAPTA MITHRA is nothing but a B-Grade, frame to MANICHITRATHAZHU, which is a classic hit in MALAYALAM
