Aaja Nachle - Revival Of Art
by on Dec 06, 2007 06:52 AM  | Hide replies

Although the ever-jabbing,thick headed critics(like this one) have been no good to such a lovable movie, the audience have appreciated it,even the non-fans.just for the fact that the ensemble cast is one of the best ones of recent past and when you are watching Aaja Nachle, not for one moment does it occur to you that this movie is only about Madhuri..
all the characters are pleasant and realistic.their interactions are believable(thanks to the screenplay) and the songs are well-placed.
to comment about Madhuri would be as unnecessary as unrequired.just that they dont make them like HER anymore%u2026!!
one of the better movies of 2007,simplistic(just like the movies of a time gone by),the right amount of everything, makes for a feel-good viewing..one only wishes the critics had their heads in place while reviewing it..but then again, whoever said the critics fit their jobs??
highly recommended, just like Dancing when you feel happy

PS-the haters can be better off watching movies like Heyy Babyy or Dhamaal..suits theor mental capacities..panning a lovable movie like Aaja Nachle only goes to show poor & askewed taste in movie..

The not so good reviews was the Only reason why i hadn't watched the movie till now.. but now that i have i have to put in my two cents worth too.. I liked the movie..i guess the not too good reviews lowered my expectations a bit too much. Madhuris dances were real good.. i wish i could say the same about her dialog delivery..specially the english ones.. the costumes and the songs.. well i really liked them all .. liked almost all the other characters too.. one thing that i did really about the movie was that we get to know the laila-Majnoo story.. i never knew this much about their history before. oh BTW. the sets were beautiful too.. the only thing i didnt really like was the story.. reminded me too much of lagan.. very predictable.. no strong dialogues either.. then again this is My opinion.. but long story short. .i had a good time and thats what i need out of a movie:D so all in all.... GOOD WORK!!

Aaja Nachle is a MUST WATCH!
by on Dec 05, 2007 10:19 AM

I disagree with Raja Sen's comments as I don't think he has watched the movie but seems to have copies other reviewers comments. If he had seen the movie he wouldn't write what he has. The movie is a feel-good simple and happy tale that gets the audience laughing at the right places, teary in the emotional scences and clapping at the end of the theatrical show. After a long time, there is a clean, family movie that shouldn't be missed. And of course, there is no tongue-in-cheek pot-shots being taken by insecure and aging superstar as done in OSO.

Raja Sens reviews are always as par with average sinegoers.I had doubt before, but it was confirmed after his reviews on OSO and Sawaria. He made a classic like Sawaria ordinary and a masala mix routine fair like OSO classic.

Just because Saawariya was quiet and good looking does not make it a 'classic' film. And just because Om Shanti Om was flambuoyant does not make it routine fair. OSO was a remarkably intelligently made film, only for those who undestand it. Saawariya was a film that tried to pass off cliched dialogues, 30-hour long close-ups and good-looking sets as a good film. Genuine quality vs pretention without justification.

And just because OSO did well does not automatically include it in the category of "those sill massy films like Partner". Agreed partner was useless, but OSO was excellent, and recognised for its excellence.

OSO was more recognised for excessive hype, cricket match attendance and appearance on each freakin reality show... Add to it Deepika's alleged affair with craze of the nation MS Dhoni.. If that wasn't enuf to make a movie hit.. Add 32 stars, so that everyone wil watch for someone he likes. That's the success formula of OSO...

Madhuri is totally overrated
by Vishal on Dec 04, 2007 12:45 AM  | Hide replies

Madhuri acted in such trashy roles (Dayavan, Tezaab, Zindagi Ek Juaa, Beta and others). Karishma Kapoor was a much better actress than Madhuri. Karishma completely ate Madhuri alive in Dil To Pagal Hai. Karishma won a National Award (the only real awards) for Dil To Pagal Hai. Madhuri herself knew that Karishma's performance was much better which is why Madhuri refused to act in Hum Saath Saath Hain with Karishma and Madhuri's role was played by Tabu. Madhuri can never accomplish what Karishma accomplished in Fiza, Zubeidaa, and Shakti. Karishma was the real Box Office Queen - Hero No. 1, Dil To Pagal Hai, Jeet, Raja Hindustani, Coolie No. 1, Judwaa, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Biwi No. 1, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Raja Babu were all blockbusters or super hits.
The fact that Aaja Nachle flopped so early proves that Madhuri was totally overrated.

Vishal...you have no idea what you are talking about! Comparing Karisma to Madhuri is comparing apple and orange. Karisma was a good actress but Madhuri is superior in so many different ways. Great expressions, charisma, charm and an unmatched beauty are some of the characteristics she possess. She has stole many hearts of the years and no matter what you few haters think --- Madhuri will always be the majority's favorite. Aaja Nachle just was not the best role for her ... she is a stronger actor than that and they did not use her right but did her part to keep the movie watchable.
Oh and by the way... about her opting out of Hum Saath Saath Hain because she didnt want to work alongside Karishma -- that's cheap trash --- she's not threatened and least of all, not by Karis --- who??? The wannnabe who couldn't even retain her original name KARISHMA?

Madhuri was a cheap vulgar actress who survived because of her obscenity. Watch Khalnayak, Dayavan, and Tezaab. Madhuri could never even dream of accomplishing what Karishma accomplished in Zubeidaa, Fiza, and Shakti.

Karishma has resolved all her differences with her husband and they are happy together. Madhuri is the one who is battling a failing marriage. Her husband didn't even bother accompanying her to India. Everyone knows he is a big womanizer. Madhuri made a 'comeback' just to get away from him. Remember a few years back, there were reports that Madhuri was on the verge of a divorce? Madhuri has to put up with the big womanizer just for her kids' sake.
BTW, Coolie No. 1 was a blockbuster and is still remembered. Aaja Nachle won't even be remembered one month from now.

Madhuri has already proven she has extra ordinary talent, great actress and dancer as well. She has "adda" which no one has/had in entire bollywood upto now.
Just have a look at "Choli ke piche" song from movie "Khalnayak" and try to fit Karishma in that song u will find out ur answer.
"Ajaa Nachle" is good movie to watch.

We are a country of very sophisticated and refined tastes. We have time and patience only for modern-day classics like Dhamaal, Partner, Heyy Baby and OSO. Why should we watch a simple and heart-warming tale set in a small town that celebrates vague things like the importance of art & culture and triumph of the human spirit. What is the use of a film that we can watch and enjoy with our entire families? Put some double-meaning dialogues, gratuitous nudity and some senseless toilet humour and see how quickly we line up outside the multiplexes! Why should we applaud an actress who is the epitome of timeless beauty, graceful charm and extraordinary talent when it is easier to ridicule her for being of a certain age and the proud mother of two? Why should we appreciate a soundtrack that lacks any raunchy item numbers and loud remixes and instead is made up of songs that compliment the film's storyline and earthy appeal" why indeed!!
