Have you people watched BANDINI, this movie gave 3rd Film-Fare award to Nutan after three years of marriage. Nutun won total 5 Film-Fare awards (a record) out of that 3 after marriage.
RE:Woman Oriented Films

You are right Rahul. There are numerous woman-oriented movies which were critically acclaimed as well as were hit at BO, like Mother India, Damini, Umrao Jaan (of Rekha), Khoon bhari maang, Pakeeza, even in Karan Arjun, the central character was of Rakhee around whom the whole story revolves. So, for a good movie, a good script, good direction and good performances are needed, not necessarily a HERO.
The era of female superstar is over with Madhuri Dixit & Sri Devi. The other movies that did well like 'Damini', 'Parineeta', 'Corporate' & to certain extent 'Fanaa' had strong female characters and parallel male protagnist. The general heroine centric movies fail because of 'cliched' feminism and a bad script, which suits for TV only. LCMD is flop because it is contrived and out dated. Madhuri has strong fan base and capability to carry a movie on her shoulders. So 'Aaja Nachle' might work provided the script & screenplay is good...
Most of the lack of successfull women oriented films at the box office can be attributed to the lack of strength in the scripts. Most of the scripts are overtly feminist which I do not think strike a chord with the audiences. Films such as Damini, Mother India were based on the strength of the central character which were essayed by some brilliant performers.
This is not only seen here; but also in Hollywood and in all genres of films from action to drama. I cannot recall too many women oriented Hollywood movies doing well in excessive proportion to films in India. Erin Brockovich, Contact, Proof of Life were some notable examples in the recent past.
