The author has conveniently overlooked his superlative performance in SAAGAR - especially when he splashes water on his face to camouflage his tears when he hears that DIMPLE loves RISHI. Amazing performance. The writer has also conveniently set aside APPU-RAJA, where he plays a dwarf.

Al Pacino = hype ; Kamal Haasan = Talent
by Stranger on Nov 07, 2007 02:43 PM  | Hide replies

Hey, Al Pacino is nowhere near Kamal Haasan! Wh do u guys always think Indian actors are lesser than their hollywood counterparts??? how many different characters has Al Pacino done so far? 10??..15?? Kamal has done more than 200 movies in various Indian languages. How many comedies has Al Pacino done? Did Pacino ever have a good physique? Does he sing? Does he dance? Is he as agile and flexible? Has he performed any daredevil stunts?? The answer is a big 'NO'.

Kamal has excelled in all the above mentioned aspects. I agree Pacino has given powerhouse performances in movies like Godfather, Scarface etc but those are only few. I can list atleast 3 dozen extremely different roles done by Kamal, only in Tamil.

I would say:
Kamal Haasan = Al Pacino Robert De Niro Robin Williams Jackie Chan Sylvestor Stallone...all in ONE!

Birthday wishes to INDIA'S BEST SUPERSTAR KAMAL HAASAN!

whoever says al pacino is a hype, haven't obviously seen any of of his movie or are completely blind. there are some unmatchable performance in movies like Dog day afternoon, scent of a woman, and justice for all..

anyway, both are my favorites, so no clashes. Kamal Hasan is one of the best talented actors whose talent hasn't been utilized quiet often.

Roshan FYI Kamal played a blind man in 'Raja-Paarvai' some 25 odd years back, even predating naseer's Sparsh.
Kamal's Nayagan is the best ever....

yes Sam. just take a look at the last 5 movies of Al Pacino like Ocean's 13, Simone etc. they way he acts is the same. the dialogue delivering style is just the same, whatever character he plays. At the same time, take Kamal haasan's movies. Compare his role in VV and Vasool Raja - In the former his english accent is impeccable & in the latter, he speaks in Madras tamil. this is how an actor should differentiate between the character he portrays in each film. I gave just 2 examples. There are 50 more I can list here

''Malayalam film industry made me an actor!'' - Kamal Hassan.
by oceans_eleven on Nov 07, 2007 01:35 PM  | Hide replies

In the last week of October, Tamil superstar Kamalhasan released a compilation of two screenplays that he had written for 'Hey Ram' and 'Mahanadhi'. The entire screenplay was translated in Malayalam and published.

'Kamalhaasanudey Rendu Thirakathaakal' is the name of the book. It is ironic that an actor in Tamil films chose Malayalam language to release his screenplays. Kamalhasan used to always say that he loves Kerala more due to its high literacy level. There also is a personal reason- when he made his debut, Tamil film industry only treated him as a young man who was good enough to play the role of villains or a glorified junior artiste. But it was the Malayalam film industry that recognized the performer in him and gave him the kind of roles that brought out his potentials.

For his very first film in Malayalam, he ended up winning an award. This is one of the reasons why he chose Malayalam to release his book in.

At the book release ceremony, Kamalhasan got very emotional and said, "It was the Malayalam film industry that made me an excellent actor. When I quit films, I intend to settle down on the coasts of Kerala."

We'd love to have you in the state anytime, Kamal!

He often used to say that Malayalam films have made him an actor. Surprisingly there is not even a single word about him acting in Malayalam films. He had a long association with Malayalam films before 1980. He was a teenage hero of so many Malayalam films including Sathyavan Savithri, Eetta, Ponni etc.
