Mudit reading all your comments above only shows that you Indian men can only think of getting your hands on someone.and i feel you are tryin to convey a message that westerns are more sensible by not gettin their hands on shilpa and that she will have to turn to Indian men to get her satisfied??If you thght shilpa is a smelly---thn y did you degrade Indian men by sayin they can accept her....in a way you are degradin your own country
But all these comments shows that shilpa is not desperate but u definitely are

O you guys are so emphatic in your expressions. Such huge opinions about a movie star who you dont even like! Are you funding her wardrobe? If not how should it matter to you what she wears and how she wears her stuff. Funny to notice how guys tend to mind and notice women's clothes more than women someties and also more hilarious is that they have opnions on womens's clothes. You sure you guys don't bat on the other side?

Have u ever seen Big Brother in UK? Have u seen the dresses girls wear in the series? Shilpa never wore any of that. Even if she had, it would have been her choice. She deserves man with a golden heart and one day, God willing, she would get one.....
God bless her and give u enough sense to grow up!

Shilpa rocks why?
by Sandeep on Jun 01, 2007 12:45 AM  | Hide replies

I think people who are commenting on this have not even seen Big brother. What happened on the show is reality of Indian people living in London and facing racisim everyday in their Life. The Episode of Shilpa facing racisim on Big brother made all the indians in london realize what they have gone through at one point or another. That's why all of them supported her and she won the Big Brother competition. I respect her for keeping her dignity in the show and showing a goos Image of India

Sandeep,

The argument is what she is doing after the show .. First of all its a Reality show not some talent competition which she won! She got credit for it period.. now get on with life and don't overdo it thats what is being asked for by people here.

She has taken on the garb of being an Indian representative which is beyond some of us here.

I am really proud of shilpa & i am sure all NRI would be, as for indians back home & all those media & even film industry says "wht a big deal" well think again. she is the only person who got all attention internationally, everyone in the world knows who shilpa shetty is. some says its due to jade (by the way its NOT JUDE) goody, well read past life of jade & you will know she don't even stand anywhere near shilpa. You cannot possibly compare shilpa with a druggy like jade. Also she does make indian proud, well if it is the clothes she wear, look around you and count how manny indian gals wear saree today anyways.

If you are outside india then you will know how india & indian are treated, they still find india as 3rd world country no matter how much progress we make in economy wise. you cannot argue so most of us just sit down n gulp it down the throat. we never discuss it or say otherwise. This goes to indian who live abroard not those who visit occasionally. But shilpa did stand against it, & to know it better watch the entire episode, not those tiny teeny bits here n there.

So from my point of view if they are discussing india/ indian & not talking about the pollution, cows, dirt , cal centre - i am fine with it. & shilpa has given one such reason to discuss. As for all those who comment on it otherwise (all those indian, fellow actors, media, & stupid news channels & rediff readers)should spend one day suround by the race which commands they are better. you will get i

I am suprsied that you stay out of India and see Shilpa Shetty winning against drug addicts( as described by you) and lunatics like Jermaine Jackson in a 3RD RATE reality show as a great achievement and a discussion item.

Read and learn dude there are people like Kalpana Chawla, Indra Nooyi and so many other women who are being discussed for the right reasons.

Nobody hates her but people can misuse a paltform given to them and we can't stop it. But we can vent our fdisgust.

Let's doa reality check here. who was Shilpa Shetty 5 months back?
1) A very average actress with no future
2) She gets onto a reality show( because she had nothing else to do) with a bunch of luncatics and failures like Jermaine Jackson and Jade .. whoever
3)She gets abused on this inane show and wins due to the sympathy factor.
4) She uses that as a platform to lecture people on Indian culture and nominates herself as a spokeswoman for Indian culture. Who cares what some English Indians want her to do?

It's time you grow up and get a reality check and stop this hero/heroine worship and see them for what they are!!!

Wow Sameer! U really don't know big brother winner becomes instant celebrity in UK. Shilpa was not just abused, she was actually liked by everyone and for the first time English people actually protested against racism. I've seen other series where people made racist remarks and got away with them. So, looks like u don't even realise what Shilpa has succeeded in doing. In the series, she came across as someone very intelligent and elegant. She changed the perception of British about Indian women. And the show might b 3 rate accoring to u but remember it is broadcast not only in UK but also in US, Canada and Australia (even in India now).
After realising that she can get heard, Shilpa is trying to make a difference in some people's lives. U should be proud of her, she has done really well and all celebs are no ones before they become famous. Be proud of her achievements, not find faults and believe me, no one is worshipping her. WE just know the difference she made........

Shilpa shetty and her PR agent Khushnaz - lagey raho...... It doesn't take too much to figure out that Khushnaz appears only when an article appears on Shilpa and her culture trysts. One peddles Indian culture to seek attention and the other is paid to defend her on this forum. How cheap does it get ? Guess Khushnaz has a job to do too. Gandaaa hai par dhandaaaa hai yeh. Lagey raho betaaaaa.

Isn't it really sad to see a well read, intelligent and articulate woman like Khushnaz shamelessly peddling a woman like Shilpa ? That I guess is the the shape of things - people who can make a difference and do it well are busy paying their rent peddling these so called famous celebs.

I would rather have a well read and articulate Khushnaz represent India's culture than the pathetic desperado called Shilpa. Anyways, Khushnaz lagey raho - do your job now.

Faceless Indian - Khushnaz chooses to defend Ms.Shetty so she is her PR. Wow for one who claims to be so well read and intelligent is this the most intelligent deduction you could come up with? Before you point fingers at her lack or waste of talent - do take a good look at your own productivity. sir, big insults or words don't make the world progressive - its all about an attitude. Once you get this...I guess you will learn what and who is more pathetic!

And now this Notnice - i will bet that all three are the same under different id's - ha ha ha ha. How desperate do people get. keep defending these worthless clowns - the Indian junta has seen thru the mascara and no amount of Pr on your part will change that. the comments on this forum may only be a part of it - but a walk about town in any part of India tells the story about what people feel about the self styled culture vulture. Amitabh ji, the problem is I don't think she has done anything wrong at all, she was very elegant in the big brother house. She won support not only of Indians but also of English. I watched the whole series and I thought she was the sweetest of them all. She stood up for herself in Gere case which was the right thing to do. Thats the reason I support her and have never tried to outshout anyone.

Arrti ji....I don;t think we are on the same page here - we are talking two different issues....and Khushnaz, No one is suppressing your voice. My point is precisely that - in this forum each person is voicing his views. You and me are no one to supress anyone from thinking the way he or she does. And I don;t think the discussion here is about abusing women - the protests if I can call them so is about Shilpa's statements. Its got nothing to do with men abusing women in general or degrading their character. Nothing could be further from truth than that.

And yes, Arrti, just the way Shilpa can say anything she wants, the people on this forum can say whatever they want too. Just the way you feel hurt when someone says anything about Shilpa - the people saying something against her have been hurt by a different issue - her grand statements about representing Indian culture. thats all.So you say something, they say something else - that doesn't mean that you should outshout them. For God's sake wear what you want and say what you want as long as you are NOT doing something that doesn't affect others. And shilpa's comments have affected some people obviously otherwise this outpouring wouldnt have happened. ( I can understand your tirade but I disagree with you that every Indian male is out to degrade women and its sheer extrapolation on your part to take personally things which people say about a public figure and equate it to a male-female gender issue.

Anyways... have a great da

Thanks for the kind words babe but I agree that the pen is powerful. But advertising and PR make a bad product fail faster. And trust me Khushnaz - I am quite enjoying this debate with you - and would like to say that this has NOTHING to do with men and women. Yes, there are some men who have convoluted images of men just as there are some women who take advantage of chivalry. But the point here is not that. The discussion here is about becoming self appointed culture vultures and making sweeping statements to that effect. Let Shilpa do what she has to - my objection is her making a generalized statement that she is representing Indian culture. We were all proud of her for winning but thats where it stops.

And trust me - don't know what has triggered you off against men - people here, irrespective of being male /female are expressing their individual views about the way they feel about Shilpa becoming the cultural ambassador of India. Remember - the same people have been the first to applaud Indian women in their achievements.... in some case put their careers on the backburners to further the careers of their wives/girlfriends - examples are dime a dozen. I completely disagree with you that Indian men are against women. Wish you wouldn't make such blanket statements - it will make you just the female equivalent of the people who make convoluted statements against women here.

All I say is to each his own - each person has a voice and let him express his views. You or me
