Why blame the Indian movies alone when most of the movies that Hollywood makes have equal proportion of crap - yes their technology and presentation carries the movie through and adds real enetertainment value ( Re: Lord of the rings) movies. Most movies made either in India or abroad are adult fantasises (re: Karan Johar stuff), some under the garb of social dramas and some outright sci-fi s (Re: KKKKKKrish). One hardly gets 10 movies a year from bollywood - that has an absorbing storyline and an overall good presentation that appeals to a literate adult (re: Let's Talk, Black Friday, Khamosh Pani, or Antarmahal).
There is a continuous effort by the medicore filmmakers to create a separate section for good cinema and call them 'Art Film' - this is also supported by a section of the press and the Aged Audience - whose libido is still stuck at some high-school juncture. These people are scared that if the serious cinema is considered in comparison with the medicore stuff, then the medicore movies and their followers will be exposed to the total bankruptcy of common sense and intelligence.
....and let Mr Johar not be compared with Ray and Benegal or for that matter Nihalani (though he is off touch, of late), Sattu or Ghosh - it will be putting a burden of a thousand lifetimes on this poor fellow.
i dont know whether u are thinking bollywood is combination of hindi Telugu tamil movies if u dont consider this way it is not hindi movies which are doing good in US or other europian countries more then hindi movies Telugu movies play a lot in US telugu movies Release on the same day in hyderabad and entire US ,in 2006 the number of movies produced in Telugu are more then Hindi ,i dont have any idea about Tamil movies ...
