Anyone who has watched Curse of Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest, will vouch that At the world's end is a fantastic climax to a good franchise. The story is excellent and the continuity is well preserved. If you have watched the 1st and 2nd, you should have no problem understanding the 3rd and should realize it's a fastasy flick on pirates and the 'messy yarn' is nothing new or odd.
Leave the story, the direction is superb, casting is perfect and the special effects, along with a superb background score, alone give this movie 4 stars.

Hey Shruti,
I haven't seen the movie yet... However, the reviews here in North America are similar to one posted by reviewer... It has been trashed by every reviewer in North America... And, guys, everyone has a right to view his/her opinion... So, Shruti, if you liked the movie and everyone did not... doesn't mean you do not have a brain or good imagination or both... Like, I liked JAANEMAN... and noone liked it...

What is so wrong about what I said? It's common sense. Look at the review. It clearly shows that the reviewer seems to be completely clueless about the whole pirate jargon. He rambles about it being long and complains about lack of Jack Sparrow, which is ridiculous given that in many scenes we actually witness two or more Jacks in a frame(those who have seen it know what I'm talking about).
And you have to realize, it's a continuation of a franchise. We obviously don't want to see what we've already seen in Curse of Black Pearl or Dead Man's Chest. So it was different and I think it worked. For me it did.
I don't think it has been panned by critics as much as in this review. It's still 50% fresh on Rotten tomatoes and will likely increase in the coming days. They might not have rated it as much as maybe the first or third but one star is just nonsense. As I said, even if assuming the story sucked, it receives full marks for a great cast, some really awesome action scene and a good background score.
In fact, I think this third, surpasses every 'third' released this year. It was much better than Spiderman 3 or Shrek the 3rd.
You need a brain because you need to realize it's a continuing story and be able to connect everything. And a good imagination because it is a fantasy flick. Reviews and all are subjective. A person with a taste for fantasy and well made movies will rate this movie well. A person who lacks that will pan it. Simple as that.

shruti, i guess i can say that i have a taste for fantasies- from lord of the rings to pirates .. but i found pirates 3 to be more weirdness than fantasy .. n yeah, we all are able to connect everything from 1st to 3rd, we all are Jack Sparrow fanboys here ;-))

Lemme share with you, what i think is Mr.Sen's methodology of rating movies...
1) Does this movie involve a burning topic like "What if after marrige you realise that you wanna sleep with someone else?" - You get one star
2) Does it hava a song sequence with showing atleast three generations of people dancing in a single sequence? - One more star
3)Do the song sequences involve almost 100 dancers? You get an extra star if the number of background dancers cross 150
4) Does everyone cry looking at everyone else...how many such sequences are there? how many gallons of glycerine is used?
5) Does it have Mr. Bachan or Mr. Shah"rukh" khan..Mr. Johar? and any of those plethora of damsels and dudes (duds?), then u get a final star..
Put all these together...and u get a five star rated movie...Sadly POTC 3 only manages to take you into an amazingly done fantasy world of pirates...no glycerine...no dancers...so the movie doesn't get a five on Mr.Sen's most revered movie rating scale....understandable...
So, I decided..I'll ignore the guy and go indulge myself in the fantasy once again...What say?

Lol I didn't read what the person said, but obviously it was not good.
I watched the film twice, and you should do so, too. because the movie is so fast running because it has so many loose end left from the last film what has to be finished in that one, that you will miss most of the details in watching it only once.
The best character was without any doubts Jack Sparrow, although he was much less funny than in the first movie of this trilogy but then much more funny than in the second part. Johnny Depp is like born for this role, I think. He plays Captain Jack so damn cute gay. I just love it.
I think it is too easy to curse that movie as bad as hell. It is actually quite hilarious when one let it be. Just sit in the dark and enjoy a funny pirate movie from the 21st centrury...
hey..mrRaja Sen...what kind of reveiw is this.... you must be nuts to give one star for this film.. yes...it was not up to the mark of the first film...it neither as bad as you put it... you better start lookin for a new job as you really scuk at what you are doin right now...

true its an average movie for u but it is extremely beter than all those indian boring pieces of crap... there is atleast some excitement in these movies and its not only about love, love and love!!!!
I think You should stick to the Indian movies..You know... all the dancing around trees & stuff???Suits you! You people would have had fun if some actors & actresses would have danced on the ship or better hanging from the masts singing some silly songs!!!
