Rs.50 crore...its a shame on Rediff to carry such a story ! More than 200 people lost their life..how much does rediff values their life? I think rediff values those lives equivalent to the salary they paid the Syed Firdaus Ashraf !

is prison term good for sanjay dutt?
by AJAY BHATTI on Jul 31, 2007 04:39 PM  | Hide replies

the sentence is very very very harsh.Sanjay is a reformed person now and he has already served 18 months in prison. The judge is extremely hard on this soft guy.The judge should lookinto the reputation of his late father. Not good for our indian judiciary...Ajay pal singh,Ludhiana.

Ajay, Law is not about soft or hard! Its about equality ! Your father could be the emperor of Timbuktu, but the law of this land looks at you as a law abiding citizen.

Law Respected.

I was indeed glad to hear the verdict on Sanjay Dutt, in fact, I am wondering why it took such a long time to sentence him when it was clearly evident that he possessed weapons. Nobody can be or should be treated above law. Mr Dutt may have so many sympathisers, but he needs no sympathy because he was quite mature at the time of offence. Moreover, Sanjay Dutt is not a very humble or innocent or polite character. He is generally very rude and arrogant.
Judge Kode has upholded the value of law and justice of India.

Probably you dont know he is just a peanut in the whole case. What about Daud Salam and others. Is there is any law so that they can be brought back to india and can take a good decission against them, but no our law can only punish these persons who are really a puppet in their hands.

Dear Shubhendu,

Your opinion is perfectly ok. There are many big fishes moving freely in the sea and they may never come to lime light, but then do we not punish small thieves just because of this. In some or other way, atleast in the rarest of cases, big rich spoilt brats should get punished so that they too feel sometimes money and clout would not work.

I have met him and spoke to him during many of his shootings and have seen him behave in public and hence drawn the comment. But could you please tell how close have you been not to accept him as rude and arrogant. If you are part of his family, I am sorry to have hurt you.

HONESTLY, cant say it is right or wrong. But one thing: the judicial system has not spared even the high profile actor. As he is not related to the blasts so he may have been sentenced to a less time.

The judge has shown that all are equal before the law. If concession was given to Dutt, all involved in this case should also have been shown the same. All committed a mistake according to the convicted, except those who are not caught. Had the judge been leniant to only Dutt, he would have been accused of partiality by the other convicts. Fifty or 100 crores, law has to be the same for all. Three cheeres to Judge Kode.
