DR RAJ KUMAR: 1930-2006
It is unlikely if a non-Kannadiga will ever understand the Dr Raj Kumar phenomenon, but it wouldn%u2019t hurt to try.
Unlike Amitabh Bachchan, he was not the star of the millennium, ubiquitous in movies, songs, ads, commercials, stage events, voice-overs, documentaries, etc.
Unlike NTR and MGR, he never tried to extract his box office appeal at the ballot box, although he could well have and many political parties did try.
Unlike Prem Nazir, he did not act in hundreds of films, just a couple of hundred of them in a long career spanning nearly five decades.
Unlike Kamal Hassan, Rajnikant and Chiranjeevi, he never tried his hand at other south Indian languages.
Unlike his own colleague and compatriot, Vishnuvardhan, he never ventured into Bollywood.
Unlike Naseeruddin Shah and Shah Rukh Khan, he was never very comfortable in English and rarely ever tried to explain the secret of his craft.
But%u2026.
But, to see star after star of Kannada filmdom sob and cry and to launch into adjectives, and to see them sob and cry again as they fall short of words to explain, to understand the passing of a legend is a small lesson in what an abstract thing genuine superstardom is.
Stardom that transcends the ordinary and nearly touches the divine.
On television, older stars like Vishnuvardhan are saying that as long as the sun and moon exist, Dr Raj%u2019s name will shine on and be synonymous with our language and its culture.

Dear Vijay,
Really very much happy to Kannadiga in this forum. But vijay do you really think this Upendra is a good actor ? I know so many fans are behind him... But I don't think he is a good actor... rather he is a very good director.

Even If u say for SRK is a Good Actor??? Aamir Fans and others say that he is Over actor, Cant act, blah blah etc... But It all Matters upon Individual interests...I Liked him more in "RakthaKanneru"...Yeah, In Direction Department, Upendra is Brilliant and Excellent...Looking for his Movie...
Rani Mukherjee was a great actress but her time is over. Deepika Padukone will become the next Rani Mukherjee; just wait and watch. She will make an outstanding debut with Om Shanti Om and will sweep all the Best Female Newcomer Awards next year. She is starring with Akshay Kumar in Nikhil Advani's next film and has also bagged the Krrish sequel opposite Hrithik. Deepika will rule Hindi Cinema for the next decade.

So, What do you call actors who have come from Tamil and Telugu movies and acted in Kannada movies? Dumb as? Don't make it a personal issue. I was only talking about her beauty. I mentioned about Kannada movie since there are no other movies of her's right now.

Kannada movies r so insecure that they dont allow other regional movies to release in Karnataka on the same day as new kannada release...Do we really deserve independence or divide ourselves n become like Europe? Ha Ha
RE:Beauty

Ganesh,
You are talking utter nonsense. The Tamil movie Sivaji got released in many theatres in Karnataka the very first day itself. No regional movie is banned in our state. This is for your info

abe, that day there was no kannada movie for release. otherwise i am sure Sivaji would have been banned in Karnataka. Fanatics and insecure kannadigas...

u dumb @ss!!! looks like u r from TN. can i expect tamils conversing in kannada/telugu/hindi/whatever in TN. No way!! Tamilzhs are religious abt their language. They don't want to learn and respect any other languages. This is the fact!!. I never seen ur amma (read jayalalitha) or karunanidhi speaking in english even when they are speaking to media in new delhi.

yeah, correct dude. i have seen Amma speaking to media in English but not MK. But, to speak in English, one should know English. Don't you think so? I don't think MK knows English.
