We don't need shilpa shetty winning a dumb, (rigged if i may say?) contest to prove that we are winners. By saying that we are just making a mockeryof ourselves. Fine she won.. okay congrats.. wat else?
Racism became a subject of an open debate immediately after the this TV show . Paradoxically all these utterances are emanating from a land we proclaim as the cradle of democracy. Racism is an attitude of mind. Now the world is not fragmented as bad as a few decades ago. Those days the people of one region did not know the people and civilization of the other part of the globe. Today world is shrunken to a tiny village. We have all the information that is needed to know about fellow human beings. What is lacking is the right attitude .
Racist mind always looks at other affinity groups with their preconceived notion that they are an inferior. In the case of Big Brother show what Jane Goody and some of the occupants tried might be a marketing gimmick to start with. It went out of hand and culminated into global debate on racism. No wonder, an overdose of even nectar, will be a poison!
The racist indoctrination should start from childhood. Parents should not indulge in racist behavior. Human Values should be taught from elementary classes.
There is only one human race. Segregation on the basis of race and religion should be discouraged at every level. All cultures should be preserved. Ethnic identity should be limited to cultural level. Citizen classes that are now available in British Schools need a re-vamp. It could be seen that the teenager Lucy Buchanan who had made certain remarks on slavery had the benefit of such classes in one of the elitist schools in Briton. But that has not contributed to change her mindset from a racist thinking .Are they sincere enough to implement such moral subjects.
For Indians it is better to follow Mahatma Gandhiji%u2019s ideals. There is no better solution to Racism than follow his teachings in truth and love. He was successful to an extent in fighting the racism of South Africa. To day if South Africa is free from apartheid .Let us hope the day is not far for the remaining people to be free from their racial parochial thinking. Now that the show is over and Silpa Shetty is the winner.This is simply a commercial show and one need not get excited over the out come.Moreover we Indians are supposed to know a joint family life better than our western counterparts.
