Randeep was first rate. Better luck in future. Great film but somehow looked reapet of earlier films like ab tak chapan, shool and encounter. The movie will not cater to family audience. Only for selected few. Too risky yaar.
Risk is a fabulous movie! It has few drawbacks like repetative story - same COP-Don-Mumbai plot, Predictable end, etc! Still its a MUST watch movie! It scores well on many fronts: Good Screenplay, nice back ground music (sometimes, it is avoidably loud), Great performances by lead actors & support actors. I would say, all the characters including support characters & excluding Tanushri's characters are very well defined & sketched. When you leave theatre, you carry home these characters and that's what is the success of this movie! This movie takes grip from the beginning (except Hichki song where the pace slows down & Tanushri's scenes). But, I feel somewhere there is lack of 'continuity'. Though, 'Hicki' song is choreographed OK (with skin show & all), it would have been great if Dirctor would have not included any such song in the film! I would say, overall, PAISA VASOOL movie, very gripping! To other reviewers, please do not compare movies - GURU & RISK! Both the movies have definitely plus & minus points! But, one thing in common - Both the movies are GOOD movies.. specially GOOD because of Great performances of Lead Actors & Supporting cast!

Guru is good only for Good performance of Actors? You don't see the realistic portrayal of the story scenes? You don't see a tight script that flows consistently without confusing the viewer? You don't see a refreshing creativity shown in capturing the relationship between Abhi and Ash, between Abhi & Mitun? Didn't you really see the wonderful camera act by Rajiv Menon? Mani has made the movie totally without judgement. He spends more time on the negative shades of the character than the positive shade. He ends the movie with the note that the protoganist is both a hero and a thug. Since the story was inspired from few real life incidents the movie ultimately ends with the success of the hero. I don't want to talk about ARR now. Opinion is divided if his work was great. If you still want to say a Risk or a Dhoom2 is better than Guru then it's your wish.. But that's not a reality and most of the world doesn't view it that way.

Have you lost your mind? Maniratnam's best five movies are 1. Nayakan (1988) 2. Mounaraagam (1987) 3. Iruvar (1998) 4. Kannathil muththamital (2002) 5. Guru (2007)
Mani has consistently made good movies over the last 3 decades. I suspect you don't even know who Maniratnam is.. Probably seen the dubbing of Dil Se and Yuva and judging Mani. Don't let personal dislikes blind your judgement.

And what about Roja and Bombay? Even Yuva is first rate. And what about 'Dil Se'? I think 'Dil Se' was one of the best by Mani Ratnam and also SRK's one of the memorable performances and AR Rehman's memorable music. In fact, music of all Mani Ratnam movies is distinct and as a captain of the ship, he should get the credit for extracting these performances.
I have an explanation for the continuous lack of merit/judgement shown by the Rediff movie analysts. My verdict is Rediff reviewers are manipulating the rediff fans' emotions to increase their web traffic and the time they spend in the site. This they achieve by putting down good films like Guru and praising bad films like Risk. This they know will increase the passion of the common internet folks and would force them to react and hence increase the popularity of Rediff review team and the rediff site. Raja Sen like people want cheap publicity and the possible performance bonus with that. Rediff Editors are not worried about the validity of anything published as long as they meet the required revenue and growth targets for the site.
Let's analyze each professional at Rediff on his incentives and compensation and try to rationally explain his actions.
Rediff Chief Editor -------------------
Performance criteria - Growth in the web traffic to Rediff and possibly the revenue in ad hostings that increase with traffic.
Incentive misalignment - Objectivity in the review reports and truth.
Hence Chief Editor may not be worried about fairness or truth in the reviews.
Reviewers ---------
Performance targets - Increase the traffic for their reports.
Incentives - Positive for growth in traffic to the reports. Neurtal for Good and valid report. Another misalignment that forces people like Raja Sen to be controversial rather than genuine.
How should Rediff change this? ------------------------------ If a journalist reviews a movie, his compensation for the review should be tied to the popular verdict on the movie like BoxOffice performance or the Average Critics Rating for the movie. This will force the reviewer to be honest and truthful. Rediff will also benefit from the increased reputation among its readers.
and Risk is a pretty good movie (3 stars). These are Rediff movie analysts' verdicts. It's been a week since Raja Sen proclaimed majestically that Maniratnam is an irresponsible director and I still trying to make sense out of that verdict.
this is the funnies review rediff can post, it gives good movies a real show runner run down and masala movies out of mill gets 3 stars, RISK is not even worth a review forget stars .. seems Rediff got this guy from a masala watcher family .. lol .. lock this guy and throw the key .. and yep Rediff too .. poor show ..
