If only you had seen Sivaji Ganesan act you would not have said this. He is definitely far better than shahrukh and Amitabh. He was awarded the best actor in the world award by French Govt. Just do some google search and you will understand that it is not even right comparing such a great actor like him with bacchas like shahrukh.
It is like comparing Johnie Lever with charlie chaplin and saying Johnie lever is the best.

he is a gr8 actor in tamil.. really amazing acting skills.. His acting skills are better than BIGB, SRK,guru dutt and all the gr8 actors i can think of.. It is sad that people are not aware of him..

Shivaji Ganeshan is good, but where is the comparison...he acted 30-40 years back, when there was hardly anyone else. Any Tom,Dick and Harry could had been an actor those days. In his days all actors needed to do is cry, sing songs looking straight at the camera, without looking anywhere else, give a good boy smile, put a lot of talcum powder and backbrush with lot of oil. Man he is good but please dont tell me that hes the best actor till now.

Shahrukh and amitabh are both great in their own ways, and equally Sivaji was one of the best actors in the world during his era, if you remember they did not have the technologhy of redubbing, playback singing extra....

Both Amithab and Shahrukh are great in their own ways. The former is an excellent masala actor and the later cannot be challenged in doing pshycho roles..hehe..just kidding..
Being a foreinger living in India, I can now fully understand how Indians are so gullible, DIvide and Rule startegy applies very effectively to teh Indian mentality - Accept the fact that both are good actors, nothing more and nothing less, dont waste your time on this BS any more
Sharukh was succesfull by doing only romantic movies....that too those movies were hit because of big banner, good music and good direction. His contribution is nothing in front of them. But Big B has done different kinds of movies and he was succesfull in all the areas. So he is a versatile actor.

You got your facts wrong Mr.Huilgol. Kadala teerada bhargava is the jnanapeeta awardee [1977] Shivarama Karanth. Maasti Venkatesh Iyengar is also a jnanapeeta awardee [1983], who wrote in English as well in addition to Kannada.

Swades was an idea lifted from a Kannada Film, 'Chigurida Kanasu'. This was based on a novel of the same name by Jnana Peetha Award Winner and Great Philosopher Kota Shivarama Karantha. Swades was far better than the Kannada film and SRK and Gowarikar were very sincere in what they presented. But Gowarikar should have mentioned the source of inspiration. The plots are too similar to call it co-incidence. But it was unfortunate that Swades flopped because it was a very well made film and deserved better reception.

Main Azaad Hoon was a decent movie. Nothing like a classic my friend. And it was a copy of Meet John Doe, an English movie. But the same subject in better hands than the Gimmic Artist Tinnu Anand would have made it a better movie.

it doesn't matter if Swadesh get flopped, but that was a masterpiece. Amitabh has lost his identity, by just picking up the movies randomly, money has become his most concern. I don't think you'll ever remember any of his movie lifelong, he's a superstar as there were no one else during his time. All funny movies, coolie, darar, all stupid movies. I think it depends on the viewers as well, now a days people are more educated and they know what to see, and during BigB time education standard was quite low, people used to see him as they have no other option. Big B really sucks..Now he is spoiling more of his image, by moving along with politician like mulayam and karan singh, and if he becomes president of india, than that would be the worst day of independent India

COME ON GUYS... u comparing 2 DIFFERENT identities. AB is in the industry since 40 years, SRK is in the same industry for 20 years,
its like comparing a SON with his FATER. Sure the father has more experince in life than his son!!!!
even then, if u recall back AB became a hit, super hit after the movie MOHABBATAIN (acted with SRK, his LUCKY CHARM) and the great KBC.
I'am not comparing. the media few people are doing it, is enough, soon after SRK's first episode in KBC, the media started off, and people started their poll/sms's. HUH!!!! was soo silly.
AB has good hits of his in his days, now he is doing a fab job, no doubt. BUT ONLY AFTER MOHABBATAIN/KBC right, before which he was in no ones lips.
well. all i need to say is, dont compare a father with a child, SRK has half the experience that of AB.

There is no doubt that BigB is a legend & an institution. But for your kind information BigB is doing experimental & variety roles only in recent past starting with Vipul Shah's Aankhen.Just remember those bogus & repeatative movies like Toofan,Jadugar,Mard,Ganga Jamuna Saraswati,Geraftar,Indrajeet etc. Even in his hey days Sh AB has done lots of casual & so-so movies like Khoon Pasina, Hera Pheri,Jurmana, Besharam, Desh Premee.Apart from legendary Late Hrishikesh mukherjee & to some extent Yash Chopra & Ramesh Sippy nobody has utilised Sh AB's acting talent properly at that time.

That was not Bachchan's fault my friend. Bachchan name sold even crap in those days. Just watch movies like Mahaan, Giraftaar and so may of them. Just crap! But all of them were HITS, BIG HITS. Mostly because Bachchan was so larger than life in those days, anything he did was lapped up by the audience. SRK is not that lucky. Today the viewers have grown up and matured and expect some class. Hence Don is an average hit. The Positive about Bachchan is he is the only actor of the older generation who has grown up and not grown old. Hence he is still relevant and a star competing with people 20 years younger to him. That is why Bachchan is so special.

You are right. We can not compare and we should not because both of them represent diffrent era.There is no comparision at all. I am big fan of Shahrukh but i admit thas shahrukh can not touch those hieghts (as far as the acting consern) on where Big B is now. "Black" is the most suitable example.
Why waste your time? Concentrate on your work. In India, sadly we make demigods out of our filmstars and cricketers while these do nothing towards the development of our country.While in abroad ( I am an Indian but will soon be granted foreign citizenship) I see their counterparts struggling hard for their existence. Also they donate generously and fight for social causes. A minister resigns if he is charged with corruption and proves his innocence, if he fails he does not return. Just learn to grow up and accept the fact the we are do nothings. We just love to create storm in a teacup
Really, who is the greatest actor in the world? Is it Amitabh Bachchan, or Shah Rukh Khan,
or Shivaji Ganesan like some of you are saying. Let me give you something more than two
cents about this.
One can never decide who is a greater actor. Firstly, what defines an actor? Is it the roles
he has done or is it the acting he could do but could never do as he didn't get the roles he
could have done. When it comes to playing a character, one has to consider this. Are we
seeing the actor or the character? Johnny Depp, when he does some roles, you will not get
the idea that it is Johnny Depp. Instead you see either a Captain Jack Sparrow or an Edward
Scissorhands or a constable Ichabod Crane. Same is the case with most of Edward Norton's
roles. Dustin Hoffman is probably the best when it comes to a display of human emotions
(Kramer v Kramer, Rainman and the Graduate). Paul Newman has long been considered as the
greatest actor ever and it is true to an extent. Russell Crowe did some fantastic roles.
James Stewart worked with Alfred Hitchcock and did some fantastic roles (Rear Window,
Vertigo). James Stewart was the inspiration to Balraj Sahni, Gregory Peck to Dev Anand (head
shaking, voice modulation etc) and Dilip Kumar had it from Clark Gable to an extent. I am not saying that this copying of styles is wrong. After all, this is how the impressionist movement in art started, everyone trying to do a Monet. And finally, two of the all time great actors, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. Both of them have been doing some wonderful roles. We would be tempted into thinking that could we compare these guys with our actors? Yes, why not?
Shivaji Ganesan, for one, believed in giving people what they wanted. Actors like him were from the old Indian school of Melodramatic acting. Mind you, melodrama is not to be ridiculed. They learned acting from people who used to act of street stages with no loudspeakers and they had to make themselves audible to the people in the last row, hence the high pitch. It really gets to you when you act that way and your normal dialogue delivery would be animated too. There is again nothing wrong with that. Marlon Brando once remarked in reverence that he could not act like Shivaji Ganesan. That was a great statement coming from a conceited scoundrel like Brando. Kamal Hassan has perhaps gone further beyond all tamil actors in terms of the sheer variety of roles that he has done. Mohan Lal again is a great actor, arguably the best south indian actor ever, but then again, you can never tell it for sure. Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah are two strong contenders for the best actors from hindi films. Actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan are more of star material rather than acting skill. But here again, there is a huge difference between Bachchan and Khan. Khan is more a one dimensional actor where as Bachchan is an accomplished actor. Bachchan has done some excellent roles in his lifetime like the ones in Deewar, Trishul, Shakti, Chupke Chupke and Agneepath.
