Cool down dude. Kindly pardon Sachdev for this. :-) Pirated copies of movies, music and software are available everywhere in the world and China is one of the biggest markets for these copies. You are right that we should purchase only genuine copies. However, we also need to remember that lower middle class cannot afford to pay a big price for something that is of no use after it's used once.

Mr. Santa,

It's precisely this type of attitude that encourages piracy and fuels terrorism. Just because something is prevelant doesn't make it right. Drug use and abuse is prevalent but will you want you family to indulge in it?

And your argument that "middle class can't afford it..." doesn't hold much water. We should only partake in what we can afford. Those who can't afford to watch a movie legally should not watch it.

Would you condone someone stealing your car because they can't afford it but want to have one? Then why are you condoning stealing intellectual/creative property?

Dear Santa & amogh... In this case..its not that pirated CD was done by underworld... Apparently DVD/VCD was distributed by the producers/director itself only.. so that more people could know what movie it is, as it was not seeing the light of the day.. even director was knowing that his movie was distributed in DVD format.

Boss, what about the films financed by the underworld? By buying the DVDs at inflated prices, are you not helping the underworld? DVDs were meant to increase storage capacity (or increase quality in case there is only one movie on the disc). The technology, therefore, should have reduced the prices. Instead, we have ridiculously high-priced DVDs. Why should we buy them?

thanks santa for ur reply and all the people...just to tell u...i saw the movie atleast a year before this movie was released...don u wanna know about a movie which is so good a theme and the court hasnt allowed its release...tell me one person among all who has never seen a movie in a pirated version....every single person who is not able to watch a movie due to any reason in the cinema as in this movie's case will surely love to watch this amazing movie on a VCD or a DVD and mind you it was not produced by the underworld as u claim but by our industry itself..even the director knows that there are lots of people who have seen it on pirated copies and he knows the reason for it too...

For the record -- I've NEVER watched a pirated movie. I would rather NOT see a movie than watch a pirated movie. I will NEVER watch a movie where the person who did all the hard work does not get paid for their efforts. The same applies to software and books.
If there is no market for these pirated movies only then will this whole thing stop.

We all want quality, but are unwilling to pay for it. The day we (collectivelY) stop compromising with our values will be the beginning of a nation that is ready to fight crime and terrorism.

When something is banned...it goes underground!
It was doubtful if the movie could be released....
The greater problem is "maturity and freedom of expression" in India not pirated CDs / DVDs.
Pornography is also banned in India, but you can always get pirated ones........And has it stopped people having sex?

The message which i sent before was wrong in the last sentence. read it as "Please be responsible enough not to do such illegal things." The "not" was missed in my previous message.

I am shocked on reading comments by those who
justify the use of pirated versions of DVDs. Irrespective of who finances the movies and who gains by it, it is wrong to watch pirated versions. Infact those who circulate these DVDs are committing a criminal offense ( it is equivalent to stealing) and those who patronize these DVDs are actually encouraging it. If you enjoy the movie at least give the director/producer some credit and pay for it. This will encourage them to continue making movies like that. If everyone (users/ renters) say no to pirated movies not only will you be able to watch movie in a good print but also you will be discouraging these people who make money by stealing.
