LP's music is mostly liked by youngsters. LP ruled in an era where there was no musch of competition. LP had strong support from producres. But LP's music was loudy and much inferior in quality than to SJ, SDB and madan Mohan. Then how they are musicians of of the millenium?
jay is right. lp gave absolutely mediocre music plkayed to gallary. It is surprising how they gave gr8 song like "yeh jeevan hai( was it rajesh roshan's contribution), Mere mehboob kayamat hogi, ajanabee tum jane ( was rd burman the source). the down fall of bollywood started with lp. there was only one good tune in karz ( ik hasina thi). Rest was copied. Ek duje ke liye had a- level ( reasonably good) score. This was their best levelmatched in dosti parasmani, karz, hero etc. their only o level films were daag and bobby. their contemporaries RD burman and kalyanji anandji produced better muisc than thenm( many A level and some o level films). they were engaged in lot of politics buying awards and masterminding farmaishes. The down fall of bollywood strted when dosti got awrd in comparison to madanmohan s memorable Mera saya. Even bappi produced a much memorable gem than any of lp songs post 80( manzile apni jagah hai shrabi) and though bappy produced music like factory some tunes were excellent and rememberd today. i find it difficult to remeber many tunes of lp except karz and mr india ( post 80). for subhash ghai the musis of hero was B level rest of the fims can not be remebered. except karz. rajkapur's premrog b_. the duo was simply an assembler and bandmaster.asha bhosale's son rightly ctiticzed for monotonous theka and mentioned that now there are many composers and heathy competitin. after lp exit the music scence improve by nadim shravan, annu malik and rehman( til

Mr. Anil Pedgaonkar...You need to improve your knowledge of the Hindi Film Music..When you say Bappi Lahiri is better than LP than I can easily understand your medicore choice of the Hindi Film Music...Laxmikant-Pyarelal were the most successful music directors of the Hindi Film Music.
Laxmikant-Pyarelal, fondly called L-P or Laxmi-Pyare, have been music directors of the people and for the people.
The music served by them has been mostly in folk style or the ’’Sugam Sangeet’’ style. It is neither too classical or too western. But it always has melody....
LP's consistancy was amazing. It is doubtful that any of the music directors have composed so many hit songs and that too so consistently, for over 36 years. Only talanted people can do it. They will not go to reality TV ( like Bappi or Jatin Lalit or Ismile Darbar) Show and ask tv anchor to put their own tune..Bye bye..

I think LP was behind in quality melody from their contemporaries like RDB and KA, though they were on top. Their last good work was Inshwar, which I liked. But Ram Lakhan, Tezaab or Khalnayak had nothing which can be called classic. afte 1990 their music was nothing but loud and least melody. In real terms, Nadeem Sharwan gave better meloduy than LP.
i agree with jay that lp were responsible for degrading bollywood music. it was pity that shanker jaikishan was replaced by a pair giving dull music when the times wanted vibrant music. most off their music was B and B_ grade. their contempraries RD burman and KA have produced much better music than them. hey were mere assemblers. the music was typically bandmaster variety and It is rather surprising that they produced 3 gems YEh Jeevan hai ( was it rajesh roshan's tune) mere mehboob ( what was the contribuitionof their friend rd burman in this), Ajanabee tum jane pahchane se lagate ho. the signals of downfall of music started from the day they got filfare for A_ level score of dosti comaped tp outstanding score of madanmohan for mera saya. after their exit nadim shravan and annu malik brought the days of good music till 2000. Even a. r.ehman was good till 1998. their best work is with kishore although they prefere rafi. they were never the md for intelectuals and classes. their music appealed generally to people with average intellect. Asha bhonsales son has rightly commented that in his young days there was no variety and lp used the same monotonous theka. Bappi lahiri did produce some good numbers (manzile apani jagah hai, sanso pe nahi mohabat pe chalat haI DUNIYA, TUMHARA PYAR CHAHIYE, KABHI HOTI NAHI HAI JISKI HAAR WO HAI PYAR, DE DE PYAR DE, INTAHA HO GAYI, TATHAIYA, ALBELA MAUSAM, kitanr ranze , sapano ke shahr, mera yaar mera yaar, jawan jaane man) in 4 yeras thou
songs in films 'sau saal baad', 'milan', 'shagird''night in london''ek nazar' 'asra','mere humdum mere dost''sajan(old)'etc are evergreen. pl. bring those old golden days back.
I have always been a LP fan. The melody of their music is hard to be found. And specially the huge variety of Acoustic instruments LP used!! I love to see LP back
The best songs of LP are: ek rithu ayee inSau Saal Bad,Tum bin jeevan in Anitha,Ram Kare aisa Ho Jayee in Milan, Alla eh ada in Mere humdum mere dost, Raath suhane Jaag rahe he in Jigri Dost, Oh Ghata Savari in Abhinetri, Majhi nayya dunde kinara in Upahar to list some. The background score of the film Upahar was also superb.
Laxmikant Pyarelal are the greatest music directors of all time besides giving uper hit songs and exceptionally gu music to indian cinema if u ju go back n see from 1963 to 1993 they ve delivered the top hit song of the year every year

LP style of music appeals to particular class.LPgave good contemporary music specially in 1980s but never been able to produce timelessquality. This isthe fact
the older generation men who have contributed much, much now get less importance in media. on tv channels also, we do not get chance to see older films much. radio stations (specially mirchi and likewise fm radios) are playing only disco and dhoomdhadaka songs. According to them older songs means songs from 1995 to 2003. So, media should also write about older generation.
