absolutely biased review
by psmith psmith on Apr 27, 2007 07:13 PM  | Hide replies

I think this is avery harsh , biased and an unfortunate review. I think this is one of the funniest movie in recent times and was definitely entertaining. OK , it may not win any awards or critical reviews but scores very high on entertainment and fun value. The review written makes it to be an almost unwatchable movie which this definitely is not. I think this reviewer is better of reviewing Mallu porn movies. He may like them probably

Copied to Hilt
by Avinash Pandey on Apr 24, 2007 03:07 PM

This is copied from the great original movie " The Dinner Game" the character of Vinay Pathak in original movie was played much much better. But, that does not mean, vinay played it badly. It was the most wonderful performance from Vinay. I have a DVD of this great french movie.

People who havent seen the original will surely enjoy this lovely offbeat comedy movie and it was a good attempt by the director.

For somebody like me who has the dvd and seen the movie atleast 10-15 times, it still was quite enjoyable.

Whether rip-off or not, the script is good enough to entertain for 2 hrs. I won't mind keeping my brain aside before watching such movies.

Pathetic Stage Play
by Neeraj Kaushlendra on Apr 22, 2007 10:42 AM

"Bheja Fry" seemed like a stage play and a badly made one at that. Yuck, waste of 2 hrs.

Thankfully I reclaimed my day with Mr. Bean :-) Mr. Bean was quite good and his antics always make you laugh. Definitely a watch for Mr. Bean fans. I was expecting more kids in the theater and was pleasantly amused to find more adults.

Well first of all Indian audience are idiots and they have no brains that by simply copying someone else\'s original work they want to give credit to that director. If he simply lifts the plot from another film, where is the creativity. Plot is the king. Remember indian audience\'s, every time a indian film is good 99% the story is lifted because in india writers dont know how to write. And bollywood is getting smart by not copying hollywood films but by copying unknown french and korean films so that they can escape being labelled as copied. Grow up Indian audience, come out of ur shit mentality because copying someone else\'s film is like match fixing. You are being fooled by the directors. They are also not giving credit to the original makers in fact they are actually supposed to pay them. Boycott all works which are not original.

dear - many of the indian films are inspired or adapted from other sources. that does not mean u need to boycott them.
i think you need to start an organization like "Save Raja Sen" as this poor critic's days seem to be numbered.

Dear Mr. Rahul

You seem to be a guy of very strong and extreme opinions. You have, in your response, painted the entire Indian audience as having 'shit mentality' just because you are a pseudo intellectual who takes himself too seriously. You know what, if Indian writers do not know how to write, why don't you write an engaging story that will blow everybody's mind out. And remember to keep it entirely original.

You are entitled to your view of the film, but please refrain from making such sweeping generalisations. Remember, it is the Indian writers who have given such delightful films like Khosla Ka Ghosla, Rang De Basanti etc.

dude rang de basanti plot is not original. it is copied from a canadian film. its just that they add indian masala to it. I guess u don't read times of India in that a article had also come about fanna and rang de being copied. or ur not up to date with the latest news. And it is fact that 99% of bollywood.. Note i wrote 99 and not 100 are copied straight frame by frame copies. go to bollycat.com if u wanna know what all movies are copied. and dude me myself being a writer from hollywood knows the amount of pains to create something original. when u guys just easily rip off and make money, then u will know it dude....

when indians can burn the effigies of crickers who do match fixing why not boycott the works that are not original. it happens only in india dude. neither chine nor france nor any other country straightly lifts the material. they all go the legal way. same thing for television. indians lift many stories and the serial karishma ka karishma was a lift off woman of substance. but it's just that copyright laws are such a shit here that they couldn't win the case.

look at sanjay gupta proudly claming that zinda was his original work thinking nobody wud know about the korean movie, old boy.

the main shit is that, these directors deny lifting the material. thats the sad part. they just say it is a inspiration. at least give the due credit the way ram gopal verma gave to godfather for sarkar if u cant pay the money.

put urself in the shoes of these writers and directors who created the original material. u toiled for something which someone else rips off ur work and u dont even get paid nor r u given any credit. how will u feel?

Way to go Abhinav, Somehow Indians take sick connoisseural feeling in themselves when they claim that this is a rip off of some xyz hollywood and the original was sooo goood. Imagine people calling Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam a rip off of Runaway Bride aur Hum Tum of Harry met Sally. In fact both bollywood movies were lot better and there was no connection at all now how come the director is supposed to admit that it's a rip off.

And come on people every one gets inspired by something and tries to find suitable elements in our society and gives it our own revival. Lot of Hollywood movies are copied from Japanese movies but no one makes a big hoopla about it. Martin Scorsese is planning to make a movie based on bollywood 'Aankhein' because the plot was so brilliant.

Don't be a cynic and spoil the show

A Good Remake
by asit kaushik on Apr 21, 2007 05:04 PM  | Hide replies

A sincerely good effort by this new filmmaker. But then it is so obvious that the film is a shot to shot copy of the fabulous French film 'Le Diner De Cons'.
Let us also give a thought to the guy who made the original!

Dear Nilanjan,
The film is brilliant!! It was so much evident from the treatment. And it sure needs brains to adapt a good story into the Indian context!
People in all cities are simply loving the film.
