Some people are blind, deaf and mute
by Satya on Oct 09, 2006 08:12 PM

yes! thats what they are! if you cant read what is in plain sight then you have to be blind! i started to go through the comments section hoping to see some praise, but all i see is people just going off on a tangent about how the movie is a copy of a mallu movie! duh...so what? as so many others pointed out, nagesh admits that he was inspired from that movie and actually bought rights from kamal!

but even if he dint i wouldnt mind...coz he has managed to make the story his own and craft it beautifully! i have not seen the original malayalam movie, which i am sure would have been brilliant, given the splendid work done by mallu script writers and directors over the years! how many times have indian film makers shamelessly lifted stories, songs, background score and in some cases entire movies without even an acknowledgement or admission to the original one, forget buying entire rights!

and here we have a talented director, going out of the way to admit the source of his movie, and what more making a brilliant movie, and all he gets is this from us! guys, this guy is one of the most talented, sensitive filmmakers around, if you cant encourage him atleast dont castigate him!

Shy to admit??
by Raam on Oct 05, 2006 11:01 AM

Nagesh did tell he has rights from Mr.Kamal, director of Malayalam hit and national award winner "Perumazhakkalam". But putting it in an interview is not enough Nagesh. I never so you admit it in other public events on cable channels. may be it was my fault.

Nagesh,Be Honest!!

I expected a mention of the malayalam movie 'Perumazhakkalam' and was really disappointed the way u claim some one else's brain child as yours. Nagesh, Sit back and think whether u deserve all these praises.

Nagesh

Dor it is a complete photocopy of a Malayalam movie starring Kaavya Madhavan and Meera Jasmine. Media has made big hype about the movie Dor saying it as an original script. Nagesh you should come forward and admited that you got inspired by a Malayalam movie Perumazakalam. And God only knows why the hell Media has not even mentioned about it anywhere not even in the film reviews.

Mr. Kukunoor ,you have lifted this story (real story of a muslim girl) from Director Kamal's Perumazhakalam stariing National Award Winning actress Merajasmine.I find Perumazhakalam 100 times better than Dor. I thought you have guts to say the truth but faoles. You take away all the appaluads for soemone story . You are truely disgusting

Guys, Please read the first part of this interview, Nagesh actually admits that he has bought the story rights from the Original makers of the Malayalam Movie.

Please read & most importantly, observe before you pass some of these harsh judgements.

cheers

Nagesh bought story right from malayalam director
by Anita on Sep 29, 2006 08:34 AM

Nagesh, in the first part of this interview, said, "The Malayalam director Kamal based his film on a newspaper article. But I bought the story rights from him..." What is there to censor him about then? Shame on us readers who never clarify things before criticising others.

The Dor-man and his secrets

Read Part 1 of Interview
Raja Sen : "The Dor story, for me, began last December at the IFFI in Goa. I watched a brilliant film called Perumazhakkalam based solely on your raving recommendation. Cut to now, when your own version of the same film is out...

NK: It is based on a true story, as you know. The Malayalam director Kamal based his film on a newspaper article. But I bought the story rights from him, because that's just fair: they hit the story first, which is how I got to know of it. I thought it was a fantastic premise, and wanted to do something completely different with it."
