No indian movie deserves to go to oscars
by shaalu on Sep 25, 2006 10:48 PM

No Matter which movie gets selected No Indian movie deserves to go to oscars. Indian movies are meant for audiences in India and NRIs , PERIOD!!! I don\'t understand why everbody is debating about which indian movie should go to oscar. Anyway none of these stupid movies is going to make it to the final five. The movies which finally make it to the nominations are a class apart from the indian movies. Indians movie makers should be ashamed of themselves and should hang their heads in shame when they watch the quality of the movies made by filmmakers from countries like croatia, italy, france, south american countries, or even iran and iraq. These days clowns like Karan johar are in the news about globalization of bollywood, What audacity do they even have to talk about that? Just because the indian movies have become popular in Americas,
and western countries does not mean that they are the best filmmakers, it is just that a lot of indians in these countries are watching these movies, they don\'t have anything better to do. Not because they make oscar quality movies, how much effort these moviemakes put, all we do is copy, scene to scene and say that it was inspired. MORONS!!

Good choice
by Srinidhi on Sep 25, 2006 10:33 PM

RDB is a good choice. It is a powerful statement and a creative concept beautifully executed. I feel for once they have not stuck to the stars. It was audacious of KANK to be even nominated. Too bad Munna Bhai lost out.

2006-Rocking!
by Sanjeev Garuda on Sep 25, 2006 10:28 PM

Probably the only reason why there have been few good regional movies was that the year has been spectacular for Hindi Cinema. Do not remember a time when i have seen so many good hindi movies in one year!

by Mudassir Ehsan on Sep 25, 2006 10:04 PM

Hi,

Any film can get nominated for Oscars, other than all those stupid and senseless films of Karan Johar.

Thanks,
Mudassir Ehsan

Rang de to the oscars!
by swarup on Sep 25, 2006 09:43 PM

Hurray Atleast o fthe mainstream Bollywood films streamlined as entry to the Oscars, Rang De.. scores a definite point. Its appalling how one can send Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna..as an entry!!!Its such a stupid film about illicit love with stereotype rona-dhona, stupid slapstick comedy & a puppet show waste of good actors.I dont think the movie has anything worth mentioning other than saleable stars & too much funds to spend on lavish sets! How long can u stand the same old stuff- Kiran Kher with her rustic Punjabi accent, Big B who is initially shown as a stupid elderly flirt & then suddenly gets emotional remembering his dead wife one fine day!!Shocking that such masala fare without any novelty can even be considered in one of the nominations!!

Munnabhai.. is definitely a gud timepass film with a social message but I think Rang De.. has drama wrapped with patriotism, relevant in today's world with more serious overtones.

Omkara again is the story of power, jealousy & rivalry with sa different kind of treatment but I dont really think its worthy of a nomination for an international award.

Havent seen the other movies to comment upon.

Hope Rang de... gets its due recognition!
