About his comments on ''regeional, cultural, and local''aspects
by Ron on Oct 13, 2006 03:08 PM

FYI, I am a physician of India origin, staying in US. If any American were to make fun of my skin color, hairstyle, foods I eat, or the way I speak, especially when they make generalized comments about people of a region, I think I would get very iritated.
Neither am I from that "region" nor from Mumbai but.....

For here, there is no need to belittle anyone when their habits and view don't match that of yours, especially publically. More importantly, your job as a movie reviewer(if it has been) is to comment the movie, which you can do like you want, but generalizing everyone from that region and sounds little racist.

If you systematically segregate few groups of human being for their attributes, then keep it to yourself and people like you. I personally dont think that you should have brought it up in this kind of review scenario. I hope you didnot lose your job b'coz your boss is from that region!!!???###

LOL! Goodluck next time!!!

Aparichit and Raja Sen
by chetha on Aug 20, 2006 11:37 PM

Just stumbled on this review.Apologize for this outdated posting.Rather than asking for Raja Sen to be ousted, or contrasting South Indian movies to Bollywood etc.,I feel it would be better to use his review as an opportunity and a vehicle for better understanding.
While Mr.Sen can decry South Indian films, abhors dishes from the region etc.,I for one love the enlightened films that have their origins in Bengal. As an Indian I feel goose bumps each time our National Anthem is sung and have never analyzed the fact that it is in Bengali. Also love Rasagollas. My heart swells with pride at the great nationalist leaders, spiritual stalwarts, and great scientists that Bengal has given Bharat.I also notice the contrarian commmanility that exists amongst Tamils, Keralites, and Bengalis - We used to have a State Government that did not care for following the flock mentality with the rest of the country.Proud of our National Unity yet true to our regional heritage.
One thing to be aware of:Why the heck do we need to distinguish North and South? We are Indians, and that is all that matters. Mr.Sen's Bengal is not really North! It would be nice to hear his point of view since his review

Hell with the Article

Who is this Raja Sen? How many years he had spent on the Cinema?? The biggest problem with this kind of people is, they are not ready to accept the truth that Southie's can do it better. It is very much clear from the fact that he talks about Rajnikanth, who gives movie once in two years. Ridiculous that he brand the entire tamil industry like what he thinks. Had he seen the movies like Autograph, Thavamai thavamirundhu, Thanmbi, He would dare not talk about the TAMIL Movies. Even today Malayalam produce better movie than anywhere in India. Southies have the best of technicians all over India. BE FAIR GUYS. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN; MOVE AWAY FROM BOLLYWOOD AND SEE THE OTHER SIDE WHICH IS MUCH GREENER.
