trash review
by sunil kumaar on Mar 13, 2006 04:14 PM

Mr. Editor, thank you for confusing a whole lot of readers both of the printed word & this esteemed web-site. Anyway, the guys who want to see movies through the prism of reviews will be unaffected. As it is, even with the revolution brought by the internet the printed word media still has a faithful following. Now coming back to the point, I would like to bring the attention of the editor of this aricle to the review published in The Sunday Times Of India about the same movie Malaamal Weekly. May I inform Mr. Editor that the same movie has been given ***(3-star rating) meaning good. The only flaw that was presented was that the film was not as good a one as Priyan's earlier "Hera-Pheri".
I believe that Times of India and indiatimes.com have something in common. So may I ask the editor of this article why present contradictory reviews to its readers.Have the persons lost all their journalistic responsibility which they have towards society. Or are they merely pandering to their personal tastes and whims.

They need to make up their minds first of all and tell us clearly how the film is.
Otherwise the'll lose their reader base.

Malamaal weekly - Best comedy of the year
by Joy on Mar 13, 2006 12:50 PM

Dear All,
I seriously think that the Rediff needs to relook at their Movie Columnists. I saw Malamaal weekly this saturday 10 PM show along with my wife and my friend's family.. The whole show was packed with people and they were rolling off their seats with laughter.. This is a very hilarious movie and only reason people may not like the movie is because :-
They do not know how to laugh or they do not understand the language.
This is a fast paced movie unlike HULCHUL and can be compared with par or better than HUNGAMA.. In this whole movie there was not a period more than 10 minutes when you won't laugh.. Some of the scenes are so funny that I am still laughing on Monday morning thinking about them.:)
Folks, if you like comedy this is a must must watch..

Cheers
Joy Mukherjee

Not the film... Yor review is pathetic !!!
by Ranjith Kumar on Mar 13, 2006 11:42 AM

Patchy ... You have disaapointed us. After reading your review I thought will not watch the movie..Bit one of my friends gave me a nuetral feedback and I ve decided to watch the movie...

The movie not the greatest.. but has all the flavours of a good commedy. I appreciate vdirectors valiant effort with a short and nice story supported by good acting and sub plots. This is a straight forward answer against to the existing hero-heroine based usual formula..

Priyadarsh.. you have shown the right courage .. !!!

Maalamaal
by Hansraj on Mar 13, 2006 11:17 AM

This Priyadarshan should stop going around claiming that this is an original movie and making a bigger fool of himself than he already is.

It is a pathetic remake of a fantastic, poignant and funny English movie "Waking Ned Devine", written and directed by Kirk Jones in 1998.

Malamaal laughter
by apurva on Mar 13, 2006 11:16 AM

The critic is gone berserk. Why they have to be so harsh on the review. If people enjoyed and laughed and were entertained for 2.5 hours whats wrong in it. What ever the critic might write about the movie my family and myself enjoyed the laugh riot. Paresh rawal is the undisputed king of comedy. All the veterans of flim industry had acted very well. Ritesh and rajpal played their character very well.

Critics please behave your self rip off or no rip off one goes to watch cinema to get entertained. And Mallamaal does entetain you.

Enjoy the movie with your family

You suck
by vivek on Mar 13, 2006 09:56 AM

Dear Patcy,
Your review is very pathetic. Priyadarshan has guts to make s diffeerent movie and it is enjoybale. You are pessimestic and biased to see only the dark side. Like people said about Black. But people will hit back. In US it is already a hit. Sorry, but you have a poor taste. In short, you suck!!!!
