God, how they've messed Superman!
by Krrish on Jul 16, 2006 06:56 PM

This film made me go to sleep. Superman is Superman because he is larger than human and gives us the vicarious thrill of kicking villains' asses by proxy. Making him a voyeur and mooning over Lois Lane really killed him and the movie in the first half and it never recovered in the second. I am really sorry that I was unable to see any virtues that Raja Sen saw in the movie. This goes for all my family members. This is one more movie that is MFWOPD or Made for Watching on Pirated DVD.

Superman Returns is not that good. No story...maybe alright for kids. Raja Sen made it sound like it was the best thing since sliced bread! Cmon Raja Sen, you are a liar!

VISUALLY STUNNING!
by Saurabh on Jul 05, 2006 03:33 PM

Superman Returns is a visual treat, with director Bryan Singer bringing to life Superman like never before. The flying scenes, the sets, the effects are all top notch and that makes the film visually stunning. Talking of the performances, they too are quiet good, the movie overall does a very good job in keeping the legend of Superman alive and portraying him as the self sacrificing, demi-god figure that he world adores.

SUPERMAN RETURNS...SUPERB!
by GAURAV SHARMA on Jul 04, 2006 04:57 PM

Great article Mr.Sen, I watched the film and loved it. The way the film portrays Superman as a messiah or a God is phenomenal and does justice to the greatest superhero. The visuals are stunning and the special effects are fantastic to say the least. A must watch for all Superman fans.

Below my expectations
by Sid on Jul 04, 2006 07:38 AM

I dint think Superman Returns is such a great movie. It did indeed bring back the Superman nostalgia. But otherwise, not as great as i expected it to be.

I sometimes wonder how rediff reviewers like Raja Sen etc. can give 4 star rating to such movie. Whereas, even the best Bollywood barely manages a 3 star rating. I guess, most of the reviewers think Bollywood is BAKWAS and Hollywood is HOT!!!

Superman Returns Rocks!
by Dorathy Perumallapalli on Jul 04, 2006 02:24 AM

First off, I would like to congratulate Raja Sen on his honest review. I agree with him all the way. Superman Rocks! No qualms about it.

Here's what I loved about the movie:

1) Opening credits
2) Kevin Spacey (Man, he ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!!! He is the BEST character actor/star I've seen in the last few years.)
3) Parker Posey (beautiful and funny - I actually liked her for a change)
4) Brandon Routh (Cute and suited the role to the T. No one else could've pulled it off the way he did)
5) Humor (involving Spacey and Posey)

Disappointments:

1) The IMAX 3D experience wasn't that exhilarating in the sense that it was too short (less than 30 misn throughout the movie)
2) The story left me with a feeling of dissatisfaction. For some reason, I thought it was incomplete. But then our Man of Steel just returned after a 5 yr hiatus.

On the whole, the movie was worth watching.

The story of the movie is fit for half an hour cartoon. The space ship episode is noteworthy but the whole movie is a big let down.Spider man is way to good.Even Fantastic four was good.
