Bravo!!!

Omkaara scores on all points-Be it the music/Lyrics/ picturisation and yes story(can you find flaws with shakespeare story). Saif is superb as Langda Tyaagi and his evil ways marks his entry to superstardom-how contrast- saif in those mushy flicks and this one-Amazing. The songs- are potboilers-watch them play at all discs-especially Beedi song-Hats off to Gulzaar for the lyrics-Can anyone even think these lyrics.
LOW POINT- too raw dialogues-too abusive languages will turnoff the families and thats it- But full marks to Vishal Bharadwaj to even factor out this problem.

Omkara

The film is average. Will pick up only in UP/Bihar and some pockets of Delhi . Certainly not in Mumbai and entire south India. The character Langda often uses vulgar abuses . Not fit to be seen with families . The film will not click with educated middle and upper class society.

I dont know how the censor has allowed the dance sequence where the Inspectors and Constables are shown drinking and dancing along with the nautch girl. They have even shown an IPS officer ( note the black stripe on the collar ) in this crowd . By the way why Nasiruddin shah is required in this movie ????

kaliyattam......omkara.........
by praveen on Aug 01, 2006 10:10 AM

Omkara is a good moview, a different potrayal of the same plot....there have been so many before this one......but personally I feel, it will be a lowdown if you have already seen 'Kaliyattam' in Malayalam. The intensity of love, hatred and jealousy which forms the basis of the real "Othello" was diluted a bit by bad language and the casual display of certain characters. I really liked the 'good' of suresh gopi and the 'evil' of lal in the malayalam version as well as Saif in Omkara.

Ajay looks dumb
by Jyothi Lakshmi.B on Aug 01, 2006 09:13 AM

The movie is good. But I felt Ajay is lacking expressions. He shows a constant expression through out the movie, starting from the beginnig. It looked odd.. How can one show the same expression when he is romantic, when he is suspicious and when he kills his own beloved wife? Other actors acted well. Ajay could have done better.
