movies are not jst for fun my friend. Defence is not the only way to serve your country. You can do that from any profession. and by the way Rang De Basanti is also a fun movie. You can enjoy any type of movie serious or comedy if it is a good one. But it seems you dont understand what are good movies. May be for you a mithun movie is a good one.

Sleepy India Needs awakening
by Ragash Menon on Feb 12, 2006 08:09 AM

The movie Rang De Basanthi really captured the feeling of Indian Youth who struggle to fit into the society where the sick politicians have robbed India of the Stand and Glory it deserves. The independence we enjoyed needed the sacrifice of our Freedom Fighters and to get us devoid of these Rascals (Politicians) we need the awaking of Generation Next. Hope this movie will instigate some thought process in this Direction.

good movie.. I like Atul Kulkarni
by Geeta on Feb 11, 2006 11:24 PM

I liked Atul Kulkarni in 'Rang de' very much. especially when he sings the 'Sarfarishi ki tamanna'..

The movie is good. but the theme is based on violence which I don't like.
With due respect to the Great Bhagat Sing, I think it was the movement of non violence which brought India her independence.

by Vinubalan on Feb 11, 2006 10:04 PM

If this movie would have been made in tamil...

its a sure flop

as the script resembles with that of kamal hasan's "indian" ( Hindustani in hindi)

i hope director of "rang de.." would atleast make his own script in his next film

sick movie
by RangDe on Feb 11, 2006 09:58 AM  | Hide replies

bollywood should stop making such movies and the people employed for making such movies should be enroled in the defence, to actualy serve their country instead of acting it out on the screen or behind the screen.
consider the number of sick movies bollywood has been making over the pas few years. and on an average if we consider the running hour of the movie to be 2 hrs, consider the number of man hours being wasted on something stupid...

I think the above person seems to have watched a wronng film, or maybe he's one of the people the film makes us think about!? or maybe he's th ekind who ONLY likes movies where one DOES NOT have to think-the Fluff kind!
Any young person with education and an awareness of his surroundings, in India, will connect with this movie. It definitely makes us wonder how we can make a difference. At no point do they say that the ending is the correct way to deal with the issue. The parallel shown b/w pre-independence youth and post independence youth and India per say, is striking and makes us wonder how prior to 1947, the british ruled over us and now the politicians do, for their own benefit. If a dacoit, or someone who has been convicted of corrution and been to jail for the same are in our government, what else can we expect. But its up to us to make a difference, by whatever way seems fit.
Being a bystander and commenting is very easy but when a difficult situation arises, that's when u know the truth worth of a person! will u be a bystander or do something if its in your hands?

Kudos to all those who thought of Rang De Basanti!
Awesome job!!!

Aditya Sarkar
misguided
by Aditya Sarkar on Feb 10, 2006 07:13 PM

Rang de Basanti is one of the misguided films I have ever seen. To even compare the two ages is an act of blasphemy and in a country like India where terrorism is such a real threat and something that people have to confront day in and day out -to show random acts of terror being justified in the name of patriotism is simplistic and ridiculous. If 'we the people' enacted the constitution then its something that we have to abide by because without it there is nothing by anarchy. Therefore taking the law into ones hands because that is the easy way out is nonsense. Its not how any democracy ought to function. Reform has to be of the system, and lethargy of the system can be shaken off by conscientious effort - and not by making pseudo anarchist statements through movies such as this.
