Fantastic article
by pari on May 19, 2006 03:13 PM

Hi,

I was truly inspired when i read this column by Sonia Chopra. This is my fave part - There is nothing 'grand' about this scattered fight against corruption and soulless people in power. There are freedom fighters too, if you care to look for them. The young people who give up cushy corporate jobs to start NGOs, the few who question corruption, the handful of genuine politicians, college students who visit old age homes on Sundays and treat injured animals on roads, fearless journalists the list goes on."
I was toucjed because a close friend who felt strongly about environment actually started an NGO in Bangalore and has still not gone back to his corporate career. he was also touched when he read this. Indeed - we must salute films like rang de basanti, it is THE FILM OF THE CENTURY!!!!!!!!!!

beautiful movie....
by Siju on Feb 26, 2006 11:19 AM

The movie sends a strong message across.... one that most of us overlook each time we hear about a MiG crash... The facts told in the movie,if true, will weigh on each person's heart. A MiG pilot, his family, their dreams all lost in an air disaster(not even a war situation). As Indians, we step out our homes everyday, and see so much strikes, processions for causes pre-scripted obviously, to support shamless political agendas. RDB directs our thoughts in such a manner, that we begin to think how much each of these strikes, hartals would have meant and how much change we could have bought about, if simply the essence of rebellion remained geniuine and common as it was 60 years back. The movie may be commericially designed to sell, but knowingly or unknowingly, it has something to say. As a movie fanatic/ or true human, its' this message, that each one of us needs to understand and carry forward.

Impressed,
Siju

Disappointing movie
by Soniya Gadgil on Feb 21, 2006 03:51 AM  | Hide replies

I beg to differ with those who thought this was an excellent movie.
Why does it always have to take a White person to awaken Indians?
Would the revolution have happened, had Sue never entered their
lives? Why do guys ogle at the firang like they have never seen white
skin in their lives? Why is drinking and tomfoolery at historical places
like Jantar mantar glorified? And "talli hoke girne se seekhi humne
gravity?" Gravity is introduced in fifth or sixth grade in school. Either
thse guys started drinking since then, or they must be reallly slow
learners.
I was curious about this movie after reading the rave reviews, but it
has left me deeply dissappointed.

We r Power
by Divyesh on Feb 20, 2006 01:36 AM

RDB clearly tells us that it the people that form a nation. Each one of us will have to take responsibility of our country n that can range from saving water, electricity, helping needy, preserving environment or in whatever way we can. Most importantly we have to start asking questions from those to whom we have given Power n tel them to be Responsible to our needs
To begin with i want to say that politicians should be the first one to be brought under Law and any one who is found corupt should be punished (its the weakest link). That can be done in two ways 1. By Courts but most of the times they get acquitted bcoz of lack of evidence 2. By Citizens by demanding their resignation and NO VOTE for corrupt politician.
Well i hv already a Neem n Mango tree planted n planning to spend one hour with nearby slum people so as to tell them whats right n wrong as their illetracy is a great source of power for politicians. May be i end up channelising that power in favor of honest politician like PM Manmohan Singh.
In Democracy either u stand up against absolute Power or bear ur responsibility as citizen better. no other choice. ROOBAROO RAUSHANI HAI.........

Inspiring

Your article is as thought provoking as the movie. I especially liked the way you've spoken about today's struggle against corruption and the few freedom fighters who stand up to fight it. The few "soldiers" who do their bit to make this world a better place to live in. Truly inspiring. I would have liked the movie better if there werent so many characters and this struggles was of one person, in some way waking us up to do soemthing on our own. But I'm inspired nonetheless.:)

out with formula films
by arun on Feb 11, 2006 12:36 PM

Well written article.Truly, the new generation of film makers( a few) are good with scripting and screen play. May your bread grow. You have made mince meat outta formula 44.formula 44= item number+sex+emotion+ dudesonbikes... u get the picture).I liked the use of Syncsound in the picture, made the whole thing very realistic., except for the taxi scene in the beginning, where the low ambience sounds were very irritating. That apart, Nakul Kamte\'s sound is amazing. Videowise I ve a complaint.,In the scene where Aamir Khan is falling of the cliff, his shirt nor his hair seem to be fluttering.

This is a classic
by Phani on Feb 10, 2006 03:59 AM

This movie is really amazing. It is definitely comparable with all time classics of Modern cinema.
The good thing about this movie is lot of comercial elements were deftly underplayed. you won't even feel like they are catching you. By the time the movie reaches the climax it turns out to be mind blowing. I feel like there is a little room for better editing in some freedom fighting scences.
Apart from that this movie is just great by itself.
Thanks to Rakesh Mehra for providing such a great journey!!!!.

i finnaly watched the movie
by neeraj on Feb 07, 2006 03:39 PM

yesterday i finnaly got to watch the movie everybody is talking about i can sum it up in points

1) plot 10/10
2) acting 12 out of 10 it was brilliant
3) music 10/10
4) technical aspects 10/10
5) direction 5/10 sorry

the theme chosen was very complex ,with a lot of characters ,it really needed a very skillfull director, R.O.M by indian standard did a brilliant job but if you draw a paralell with world standard please see the movie "crash" it should release in india soon ,there also the characters and the story is complex but it has been brought brilliantly together ,R.D.B lacked that final punch but still a very good film
not taking any thing away from R.O.M but there is always room for improvement

Truly a generation awakens!!!!!!!!!!
by mansi .d.lakade on Feb 07, 2006 02:24 PM

Really RDB is an awesome movie. It not only gives you the message of patriotism but also about friendship, about the cold war between hindus and muslims[which is also the creation of politicians].it really awakens you and makes you think about the social issues mushrooming in india.todays geneartion wants to go out of india to study or to work.after seeing this movie, hope, this BRAIN -DRAIN stops to some extent. i tink this movie's message should be taken seriously and we shold really work towards making India a developed nation in all senses.
