Unrealistic Movie
by saagar on Feb 07, 2006 01:18 AM

When was the last time we heard the paramilitary forces being called in to forcefully kill a peaceful procession, the kind shown in Rang De? Almost every day, India is plagued with strikes and disruptions in public sector and no politician can dare use force, the kind shown in Range.

A Tineman Square can never happen in India. Its looks good in a movie but makes no sense. Living abroad, Indians have very little knowledge of what India is really made of today, the people have way more power than NRIs would like to imagine. Politicians arent the only one taking bribes. Bribes and corruptions runs up the veins of our society, from a chowkidaar to the PMO.

Silly movie, made me laugh.

When I went to watch RDB, nothing had prepared me for the overwhelming, stupendous, soul-stirring effect on me. even though the end had been revealed to meearlier and had had seemed far fetched, when it actually happened , it seemed it like the most natural ending. after all what would one expect in a country infested by corrupt politicians, one could even say necrophiliacs!
Undoubtedly, the best movie I have seen in years. with the message that all of us have it in us to do something, to change something and are only looking for the right spark. my salutations to the makers of the movie, every single one of them to pick up a movie with a cause in this era of make-believe, shaadi video movies. may your tribe increase.

Couldn't agree with you more
by Dootika Vats on Feb 06, 2006 06:48 PM

You are absolutely right. I couldn't have expressed it in a better way. You watch the first half and you recognize the characters in yourself. When you watch the second half, you recognize the characters that you want to be.

This one totally leaves you feeling more of an indian

RANG DE BASANTI!!!!
by miran on Feb 06, 2006 05:33 PM

haven't come across a commercial cinema since Lagaan which has all the elements required for a hit masala movie.......its not just a movie, its a message to the youth of today, that the future isin our hands, lets not just sit and watch. be aware. cause what might happen to someone else today might happen to you tomorrow. so stand up and get counted in this chain. the slogan is still the same, 'inquilab zindabad'. pass it on to people you can trust will be there for you even in the middle of the night. lets see if the whole country comes in. spread the word.
that was just an opinion of someone who loved the movie. it created ripples among the youth and reminded the old of their glorious past. the director and all the members of cast and crew needs a pat on their back for their brave effort. after all its not always the end result that matters. sometimes a little bit of effort makes a significant difference. go watch the movie and that would make a difference in your life!!!!!!

Cant agree more..

I felt an awakening within me. It was truely a marvelous movie. We need more of these kinds to build unity and "We are Indians" among us which cross beyond castae and language barriers and less of Bipasha Basu or Mallika Sherawat kinda movies.

DearEditor,

The film "RANG DE BASANTI" is a wonderful film, with purposeful contents ,beautiful acting, excellent music, editing, direction and photography.

It has given an awakening call to the youth of THE WORLD IN GENERAL AND INDIA IN PARTICULAR .It has directed them a serious prevailing cancer in Politic life and society, and awakened the youth. It has given them a purpose. Now it is for the masses particularly the youth to take up the issue seriously and act asuitably and accordingly. It would not be out of place to start right earnestly "THE RANG THEY BASANTI YOUTH CLUBS" all over India and enroll youth of India and organise them properly to fight corruption, relentlessly and continuously.

CONGRATULATIONS, RAKEYSH OMPRAKASH MEHRA FOR MAKING
SUCH A PURPOSEFUL FILM, PREY AND HOPE HE WILL CONTINUE WITH HIS THOUGHTFUL EFFORT.

Thakur
