kank is not for people who cannot handle reality,or cant accept the fact that the world around us is changing.if u see around u will see a lot of unhappy marriages.and for no apparent reason.that also explains rani mukherjees charecter.theres an adage in english-"good lock and good key but just not the right lock for the right key." well there r negatives in the movie.the greatest being srk. he is looking old and i find his acting borders on hamming. but if u dont have strong grandparent like moral inclinations u should go and see the movie atleast once.
I agree this movie lacks in justifying the rift between Abhishek and Rani... but it still has a message somewhere that not all friends end up in good marriages...come to our society here in the US ...I will show a dozen of such families!!
I surely agree that the moview dragged and lacked justifying the inferences at the end...so does every other masala film, man!!
Come with a "specific" frame of mind guys...not the one you would otherwise have when you come to the theatres to see a IQBAL, or a COMPANY or a SARKAAR or even a SHOLAY.
I dont necessrily agree with the reviewer on whether this was KJ's best...but worthy effort definitely. Please don't be biased that KJ is a mush-maker or a girly-guy who only knows chocolote sagas or even SRK is monotonous,the worst ever actor India has ever produced! Pardon me as i tend to think most of us are either too contempt on a nice wife at home dealing with all household chores and "being Patibrata" all-over and or are complexed with SRK/KJ. I am not a admirer of them, neither I am a 18 year old, but I have seen them speaking right in from of my eyes(lately in BAFTA) they both definitely carry a attitude,know the best what they are doing and are by far miles ahead of the rest of Bollywood crew. Ask Mr Bachchan, he agrees.In this film, not a single character is unreal, if you are a soccer player and your wife is a fashioner and making tons more that you do and on the verge of getting a $5M contract you become cripple...you will definitely become cynical... have you guys taken your kids to swim/piano lessons?, to school?changed their diapers when they were a year old...baby-sat them for days when the mummy had to attend professional/social obligations? You would have felt it
I completely disagree with the reviewer, it is almost as if we did not see the same movie. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinions but when there is such a difference in view I start to wonder what is going on.
I was very disappointed by this movie especially because I was expecting so much from the director and his usually good story writing. Not only was I dissapointed I think this is the worst Hindi movie I have ever seen and also I came away angry and puzzled about the message and the morals. It also had almost none of the great jokes that are in his earlier movies. This film is terrible on every level from sometimes confusing directing, nonsense story and above all just the embarassing cheapness to some of the scenes. E.g. imagine some aunties or families going to watch the movie together and we see sex suits and whips and call girls half naked with man who could be their grandfather. Disgusting movie with a disgusting message. In India I am shocked that this movie was not banned and yet some good movies are sometimes censored. This is complete nonsense. Above all, what is this movie teaching? The worst message of all, that immoral people are right. AVOID!!
Even before I entered theater I knew it is one of the longest movie and full of shit with Shahrukh's overacting to Rani's as usual Madhuri style of acting. She has hardly anything to deliver of her own. Her facial expressions are same as Madhuri whether you look at Hum tum or this movie.
Why KANK is already a hit evenafter everybody hated it? Simple reason. How can one make a shit out of such a good star cast? I spent my money also to see how worst this shit is and that is what everybody contributed to make this movie it on box office.
I think it is better to wait for DVD or pirated CD rather than to visit theater.
Rani -> Acts like Madhuri always Shahrukh -> Same overacting continues Abhishek -> Simple and sober as usual. Preity -> Gorgeous with some good performance. Amitabh -> Did whatever best he can to make you seat for 3.30 hr and he succeeded. Karan Johar -> All movies are similar with stupidity. In Newyork he shows SEPTA. Sometimes he shows Newyork and board of Philadelphia.
I saw KANK yesterday, and its not a bad movie after all. The 1st part is amazing although he drags a little bit in the 2nd part to finish it off. KJ makes movie for SRK( Best in a little bit Psyco act which suits him) but i loved AB Senior & AB Jr. Rani Mukherjee was g8 , Kajol would have not done justice to this role.Preity was rocking. songs were a let down. But this is not his best film. I would give him 7/10. The (Infedility) topic which he picked is not for masses in India but for Individual. So it wont be a super Hit in India. Not all will agree with me. Waiting for Comments...............
