I would rather send Iqbal as Indian cinema's representation at Oscars. The depiction of triumph over disability has never been picturised in a better way. Why is it not getting highlighted is probably because of limited commercial success. But then, there is not much about Paheli that you can write home about. Except for the fact that more saleable stars have participated in the promotion of the movie. Iqbal with its originality and simplicity, should have been nominated.
I realy am puzzled by the fact that Paheli got the nod over films like Black or Swades. No doubt Paheli is a good film but it cannot on any grounds be compared to Black Or Swades which are par excellence. From when is a film inspired by a true life incident a copy. and why did a film as original as Swades get overlooked. i don't know if Black orSwades could have brought home the oscars or not but the chances of Paheli are thin!
Mr. Subhash K Jha, we fail to undersatnd what is so gr8 abt Black?!!and Mr. Bacchans performance was one of the worst Ive seen! His English dialogue delivery was over the top..ivent seen paheli but i endorse each one of Mr. Raja Sens views on Black..
The interviewer here seems to have a super strong bias in favour of black. Which is really unfortunate, because paheli was a strong and beautiful film... Black was just a lot of noise...it was a film it could not get past watching for 15 minutes!! And, Mr. Bachchan is just loud in the film....it is sad to see my favorite actor falling flat when faced with a challenging role!
Can Subhash Jha stop plugging Black with every breath he has?? We all know that he is close to AB and Sanjay Bhansali but this shameless plugging of Black at every turn is sickening. We\'ve had enough of his blatant peddling of the film since it was released. Paheli is a gem and deserves a chance at the Oscars. So Jha .. just SHUT UP ..
