What else can one expect from a foreign funded film? Mehta\'s merely lends her shoulder, the real firing is done by foreigners hiding behind her back.

typical mehata film

yes, this one will be typical film from Mehata. I dont understand why all these so-called Indians show the dark side of Indian society. The same is the case with Mira Nair.. Why cant they see good things in India and show them on big screen. Always, foreigners are willing to show the bad things about India.. in that race our own people are front runners. I just hate this.........

One may not like a mirror to ones face.. well, if you don't like it, or as you say, "I hate this...".. then do something about it.. change it. Face up to it, instead of cribbing about what you want swept under the carpet !!!!

Yes. They won`t show good things about india to Abroad. Inorder to catch western Audience attention, they forceibly choose a controversial theme.

it is nothing but survival of the fittest.

Thats because there are far more negatives about indian society than there are positives. We are so proud about our supposed morality, spiritualism, traditions, culture, etc etc

All one sees nowadays is morality replaced by venal corruption, sprititualism by casteism and communal riots. Dowry (and the deaths) and female foeticide have become culture. Somehow we Indians are in a state of denial about the ground realities in the country, by clinging to a vision of the land that might have existed hundreds of years ago.

Instead of abusing Deepa Mehta, look inwards and see to what extent she is right.

kudos to water

Kudos to Mehta and her team for bringing forth the plight of widows through her small effort. A society can move forward only when reality of plights and atrocities are accepted and a solution is sought for it. Nothing is fundamental except change, and fundamentalists of all hues should understand this.
