The review was nice to read. Rather to say it was amusing .Iam also a potter fan, But would nt like to watch the movie if it has many deletions from the book. Thanks to Lavanya for a beautiful review
I do agree ..GOF not for muggles !Goblet of Fire is definetely not for those who havent read the books. I had always believed that Book 4 would be the most difficult to make into a movie, bcas of the quidditch world cup and the tournament tasks. And honestly only these were the scenes worth watching ... Many characters have been left out, dialogues added, altered ( as always) ... I always watched HP movies out of cynicism rather than interest.I guess am right ... I guess HP should have been a TV serial instead of a movie ..Atleast a lot of justice could have been done to the book...Characterisation is pathetic.Cedric isnt as handsome as potrayed by JKR nor is Cho.Same goes to Fluer.Krum is supposed to be skinny and not macho. ( hes a seeker for heavens sake)...Last time twas Sirius ..He is supposed to be very good looking guy. A rugged Mathew Macougney would have been apt ! Dumbledore is very irritable ... Its a pity that Winky,Dobby,Bagman have been left out .... I could go on and on ...However hats off for the world cup scene and the maze scene. And the GOF scene as well ( triwizard selection) The first and second tasks were done well but little things were missin
I truly agree with the writer as a muggle could never understsnd what's happening in the movie. All the actors have played there part nicely but they(the film crew) didn't show many ofthe important characters like Bagman, Percy, etc. They didn't show much of Draco's. Reading the book is more interesting as u get to know really what it is all about. Otherwise, the film is a must to all Potter fans.
The review is biased. This is not the review of the movie. But, a defending of the movie by a Potter addict throughout.
It time and again reminds that the muggles ought to have read the book before coming to the movie. No doubt, the Potter fans may watch wide eyed, comparing their imaginary world with the one that they see on the screen. But the movie is supposed to be for the movie audience. There is no disclaimer saying that you would have to come to the theatre after having read the book.
If the muggle ain't finding the movie entertaining, then the movie has failed in its task.
But, though a muggle, I would not want to base my opinions about a movie depending on a biased review. Hence, will watch it.
If the movie is well made and if someone has seen all the earlier potter movies then I do not see any problems with people following the movie.Yes if you take someone to see Terminator2 without having an idea about what transpired in Terminator1 then obviously they would not understand whats the big deal with Arnie as a metallic Hero!! Just that, by a clever twist of script, the same machine was the villain in T1!!! And by the way like Hermione - I resent being called a 'Muggle'.... :-)
