i hope this reviewer does not draw a salary from rediff. what kind of reviwer does not even take the effort to note down the names of the actors (referring here to "the woman who plays his wife") ? the bosses at rediff should wake up and atleast glance over the articles before they are posted!
Netaji graduated from the Scottish Church College in Calcutta after being expelled from Presidency College (and later readmitted by the University of Calcutta at another college, Scottish) for allegedly being involved in an incident of physical injury on a racist professor E.F.Oaten.
Among the other illustrious alumni of Scottish include: Swami Vivekananda, Nirad C. Chaudhuri, Paramahansa Yogananda, Bhaktavedanta Prabhupada, Mrinal Sen and Mithun Chakravarty.
Would you explain the paradox in claiming that Netaji belonged to ours -- I always thought that he was born in a bengali family in Orissa, and thats what it is. So where is the paradox.
Btw, the review is absolutely pathetic, says more or less nothing about the movie and its make, technical aspects etc. Just a bunch of rubbish.
Dear Sir, I just finished reading your article on "Bose". I must say, I couldn't agree more with what you wrote. The ups and downs of the film- although I haven't seen it yet but your comment on putting on a lullaby in a patriotic film is absolutely ridiculous (I have heard the soundtrack). The very Idea about "Netaji"- his idealisms and today's outlook of people about him, well you have put it exactly the way it is. All the more reason, why I am writing this to you. There is one detail however which I would like to share with you- Netaji actually did tell Hitler flat on his face about the futility of attacking Russia. His straightforward attitude in front of a man who actually pronounced terror with his (hitler's)very presence was the single underlining fact, that he (Netaji) was a Strong man at heart. I am not sure if you will believe me but my great grand father (actually his brother) Mr. Mukundalal Sarkar happened to be his personal secretary and so I know quite a lot about him (from my grandpa) including the fact which I just stated. Well, I couldn't help writing to you. Your article was simply superb. I would be glad if you can write to me back. sincere regards, Debroop
True...every line of the piece is true.....the word forgotten is apt too...as otherwise what justifies the fact that not one movie has been made on this personality of Indian history since Independance and the present ruling party moves around one single family rather than any ideology.
