I have read about Netaji Bose in school and later in life and one thought that haunted me was this - What were Germany and Japan expecting in return by helping an ordinary private citizen like Bose. Surely, Bose couldn't have been naive to their true purposes at that moment in history. Germany and Japan could not have committed their men, arms and money to help an unrelated country get independence without expecting something in return. The atrocities they imposed on citizens of their occupied countries is well documented. The Jews, Chinese and Koreans feel the scars even today. Can you imagine what would have happened to Indians if Germany and Japan had indeed followed through their offer to Bose, defeated the British and occupied India?
While I do not doubt Netaji's patriotism and his theory of using violence to hurt the British, I think he could have led Indians on a very dangerous and dark path.
