This movie sucks
by sheshadri on Feb 06, 2005 06:17 PM

It is a totally waste of time to watch this film.
As there is nothing to watch except Aishwarya Rai.
If not for Aishwarya I would have demanded a refund of my ticket money.

Shabd is a straight lift from an old malayalam movie
by Ranjini on Feb 06, 2005 02:59 PM

Hi

Though different, shabd is actually inspired heavily by a malayalam movie "Rachana" released 20 years ago. The director has not even bothered to acknowledge it. Ritoparno Ghosh was inspired by the thought of O Henry, but he acknowleged it, here a full story is lifted and the director takes all the credit. SAD

Why use euphemisms?? SHABD is horrible, pathetic, avoidable.. Sanju rocks? if you look at him in isolation.. But one gets irritated whenever he appears in the second half.. Ash has made a very big mistake by agreeing to do this role.. There is nothing in it for her.. There is a dialogue in the second half like "Ye kiski galti hai" to which somebody in the theatre replied "Hamari galti hai"

it is difficult to add glamor to a mallu movie
by peter monsy on Feb 05, 2005 11:38 PM

the story of shabd is one that is difficult to glamorize. The original mallu movie ("rachana") was a lacklustre movie, though it had some adept acting by nedumudi venu...(the equivalent of the photographer). He was the protagonist of the mallu movie.

The review seems adequate and true, there is no deep intriguing depth in any character.

Pritish namdy seems to have lost his mind along with his hairs.........The movie was abig mess & its a paid torture of 3 hours!

Please do not see this movie!

I felt like a Ginipig on whom the debutant director Leena yadav experimented.

after watching shabd i am not able to describe it in words.the topic is a very sensitive topic and has been dealt in a good way by debutant director Leena Yadav.though the story is a bit complex at times and keeps viewers with a lot of un answered questions but still it holds the viewers interest till the very end.the only dissapointment is the pace with which the movie moves forward.Sanjay Dutt as Shaukat Vashisht is awesome.Aishwariya and Zayed too have done a good job,but the movie really belongs to Sanjay and is one of his best performances in his film carrier.

If anybody rocked, it was audience who were served with a real confused dish. I dont think Sanjay Dutt could do justice with the role. Acting like a psycho, using shouts to convey emotions is not the best way to portray a struggling mind. And if this movie was made keeping in mind A beautiful mind, then surprisingly the imitation is not there at all. Russell Crowe was marvellous, Mr. Dutt looked like a confused Munnabhai who has been asked to act like a writer at gunpoint.

Sheer money and Time waste. I guess there was time and money saved by not paying any attention to Ash's role. She is totally clueless apart from the final confrontation.

Still trying to find out "Shabds" to describe this movie..
