Princess India
Aishwarya Rai on Oprah Winfrey
by Princess India on Apr 27, 2005 08:25 PM

Hi,
Ash did a wonderful job on the talk show. She was gorgeous and she was very articulate. The funniest part was when she was wrapping the sari and she was like i hope i am doing this right. "Mummy help me!"

Hold On!

It's time people stop the crab mentality in India of pulling successful person down, instead of climbing up themselves. Whether Aishwariya can act or not, whether her she giggles too much, and whatever constraints she makes on herself about sex scenes and kissing- the point of the matter is that she is doing very well for herself, the western world is in awe of her, she IS doing her best to put India forward in a better perspective than many other ambassadors have done in the past, in whatever field. Why pull her down? Respect her for how she's reached where she is! So instead of making baseless comments about her, why not see what makes her so special abroad?

Aishwarya's visit to Oprah!
by Shashank on Apr 27, 2005 12:42 PM  | Hide replies

I am sure that Aishwarya Rai, the woman from India, is a wonderful example of the modern Indian girl who is ready to take on the world also shielding her own ethics. Being one of the stylish and the most beautiful woman not only in India but in the world as well, she has immence power to play down questions which are controversial, and also put India forward in whichever way she can.
Being the beauty queen that she has been, its important to prove you really care for good deeds by carying on the work even after the beauty contests are over, Aishwarya Rai is the perfect example of that. She has used her beauty paired with brains to spread awareness for issues. She is very up-tempo but still very much a normal girl from India; very simple.
Cpngratualtions to her from my side and all the very best for her career and life.

"Naseerudddin Shah, Om Puri, Amrish Puri, Not to forget Rohini Hattangdi, who also won as Oscar".....hello what do u mean by this???...did u mean rohini hattangady has won the oscar....or did u mean that she won something as OSCAR...confusing.
If u think she has won the oscar..u are wrong..get ur facts right.... and more over use a clear language before expressing opinions hastily!

Rubina
Ash on Winfrey Show
by Rubina on Apr 27, 2005 12:12 PM  | Hide replies

As reported in this article, Ash is NOT the first Indian Actor to have appeared on this show. A couple of years back Actor Salman Khan had appeared on the same show. The thing might be forgotten, but die-hard Salman fans like me haven't.

But the crucial point is ..... why is that whatever Ash does nowadays, become the biggest news of the century..... When she was hurt, a lot of melodrama was attached to it.... later it was found that it was only her toe that was bruised.

She is also not the first Indian to have featured in Madam's Museum.... Amithabh Bachchan is already featured there....

Many Indian Actors have been featured in International magazines...... Long back Madhubala featured on the cover page of a very popular magazine....

Many renowed Indian Actors have worked in Hollywood projects...... Naseerudddin Shah, Om Puri, Amrish Puri, Not to forget Rohini Hattangdi, who also won as Oscar. Ash worked in just one, Bride and..., Which was in no way a Hollywood venture, when everything about it right from the crew to the location and the look was totally Indian....

She is not the only one to have been invited to Cannes.... why even Mallika Sherawat is invited.

Totally agree with you however, must correct, Rohini Hathangadi did not win the Oscar, she was nominated, which is still a remarkable feat.

Didn't u get it that why such a fuss is made about ash coming in eyes of media is becoz she is considered a star even though she doesn't deserve it.
And why do ppl stray away from the topic. we are talkin abt ash & u are talkin abt one useful good lookin person salman khan. he is as pathetic actor as ash.& both have a horrible body language. only thing they have is beauty.actually both r made for each other.

iagree with u. ppl admire her just coz of her beauty,
whichs anyway the only admirable thing abt her.
im a salman fan too &im really angry with her 4 what she did 2 him before.salman's a100 times greater actor than her .

ash on oprah
by ambica on Apr 27, 2005 11:52 AM

well, I am not surprised by ash. in fact she impressed me.... even dear old oprah, the queen of talk shows could not get her to talk!
but its a pity that ow's home page introduces India in the way that it has.... but i guess the truth hurts.
