Well, though Anu may have won the national award for "Border" and though many people still do feel he was original in Border, it is UNTRUE......Yes, the song "Sandese aate hain" was a copy of an old song " Jo mere pyaar pe ho shaq, to lelo imtihaan beshaq, ke haar jaaoge.......". I do not remember the name of the movie; but it was one of the first few movies of the actor Vinod Mehra. From experience, I can say that Anu "by himself" will never give quality music.
It has been long time since somebody wrote about anu malik. Anu if you are listening, you are the best hindi music director in the present generation. SD BURMAN and LP being the best before you. You can make any kind of songs. You have beats in your songs. Every song of yours has those drums beating. If everyone turns up against u I will be the one always in support of your music. SO what if you have copied some music. Who does not copy in the world ? But, oh boy, what originals have you made !! Naaraz, naajayaz, imtihan, phir teri kahani yaad aayi, sir. I am in awe of your romantic songs. The songs you make are so instantaneously feel good to the ears. No matter what the big directors think of you but you give your best. Baadshah's music is one of the best. Tell me any composer these days who has come up with all songs with just a single male singer. ANu malik has done it in Baadshah. NObody else. NOt even close. Which music director has got a national award other than rehman? I think ANu malik's only competitor is AR Rehman. Kumar Sanu's persistence in hindi songs in early and late 90s was hugely helped by ANu's music. Main mila tu mili main mili tu mili duniya jale to jale..

dear Brijesh...
Sorry to say that your music taste is very poor. You proved it saying that Badshah was great...lol. I cant help. Dont praise Anu Malik...judge him by his work...for that you need to listen some good quality songs... Seems like you listen to hindi songs mostly. You should explore some International stuff too. Or else listen to some good hindi movie music like Lagaan, 1947 Earth, Aur Ek Prem Kahani etc. Thats music! Even the song which you've mentioned..."yeh kaali kaali aankhen..." is inspired by Dean Martin's 'The man who plays the mandolino'. Do you know that? Understand that there's nothing great in copying. It does matter when you create something innovative. Boy...Anu Malik sucks!
Hey, Anu's music sells only if the movie is a hit and that too, barring few exceptions like Refugee, it has never been path-breaking or trend-setting. He has always tried to make music according to the current trend and never to set a trend. Listen to rahman or shankar-ehsaan-loy , they have tried sucessfully to make a trend with their original style. Also unlike anu or nadeem-shravan they have never claimed that they are great. Frankly all the interviews that we get to read about anu seems to be like a publicity-stunt.

Hi Sophia, I think you should give him the benefit of doubt. Don't you think that the reporter who was interviewing wrote it downn as "ICE" instead of "Eyes". BTW i have heard that album and it was very good. As far as I'm concerned Anu need not know a single word of english to compose music. I have not heard LP, KA or some other senior MDs speak in English. Does that mean that they are morons?? Give me a break !!!
Well There is never anything exceptional about Anu's music.Relatively mediocre music on par with composers like a.r.rahman and shankar ehsaan loy.but give him a break!baring Anu Malik and Rajesh Roshan,no one has had a tenure as long as them. They've been composing right from the late 1970s.Anu's music's very much in vogue even now.and though his music's never outstanding,he's a real versatile composer according to me.he can churn out a refugee, an asoka and a mujhe kuch kehna hai at the same time. His contribution's been quite significant starting from early 90's-phir teri kahani yaad aayee(93),baazigar('93),main khiladi tu anari('94),akele hum akele tum('95),border('97),judwaa('97),virasat('97),soldier('98),josh(2000),refugee(2000),har dil jo pyaar karega(2000),fiza(2000),mujhe kuch kehna hai(01),asoka(01),ishkvisk(03),L.O.C(03). his track has been good this year too-murder, main hoo na and fida! Agreed he's one of the biggest plagiariser, but post 2000 i guess he's cut down on plagiarism significantly. its nice to seem him young and kickin after 25 yrs in industry and still going strong. wishing anu all the best for his score in bride and prejudice.do us proud internationally!

I think when u listen to annus music u r in neutral state as well !! ha ha
And plzz guys annu has given some good music but by and large he has given some mediocre stuff and mostly copied music.ANNU MALIK CANT BE CALLED A GOOD MUSIC DIRECTOR.
"Then Bheenge hooth tere [Murder] almost became a national anthem."
Oh really? Check out the I2FS site to know where Anu blatantly lifted this song from? And to think he takes credit for it becoming a national anthem! Geez!
