Go Patcy!!
by Bragadeesh Srinivasan on Sep 14, 2004 02:51 PM

The review by first-time reviewer Patcy Nair was unpretentious and told a lot of awful truths which other reviewers would not dare tell - even obliquely.
Such as Salman cannot act. Salman fans will pounce on the reviewer with harebrained logic, confirming our opinion that Salman and his regiment of fans share one common thread - a low aptitude for movies.

If you say a movie is bad, then there would be several dozen fans pouncing on the reviewer, asking her to shut up and quote trade magazines and the "public" and make personal pleas to Rediff to fire the reviewer. I don't know what people expect the job of the reviewer to be. Is it to quote weekly collection figures across different centers?

So Patcy, your review was a little simplistic but it wasn't psueodo either. I knew you didn't write it with the Thesarus open as some reviewers do. And don't worry about people like me. No matter what you write, people will tear you apart. Might as well write what you think and be torn apart for that.

Not that bad a film!!!
by srinivas on Sep 14, 2004 02:20 PM

hi all,
i didnt think the film was that bad. though i was not much happy with the songs, the film can be watched once. rest all in the review was absolutely point blank accurate such as riya sen's wobbling dialog delivery, viju khote's two lines role, wastage of renuka sahane's role and asif shaikh's lengthy performance.

regds.

Salman is getting better
by Himkar Dubey on Sep 14, 2004 01:55 PM

Hi
I don't think that Salman's acting is poor in this film. He has matured as an actor and is giving greater performances. As for Preity she is a breeze in this movie. Bhumika has given gracefulness to her role and looks matured as an actor. Full marks to her.
But the director fumbles in the end and doesn't seems to know what end he shud go in for. The end is disappointing and doesn't look convincing.
The reviewer of this movie on rediff shud "review" without any pre conceived notions which is the case with this review.
Thanks
Himkar

Dont allow airhead journos in Rediff
by Mahek on Sep 14, 2004 01:48 PM  | Hide replies

Dear Rediff,

Yours is probably the only website that allows immature airhead journos to write. Remember what they wrote abt Lakshya, abt its performacnes and all, it was pathetic, Hrithik Roshan's goody act and Prity Zinta's unresearched and absloutely shallow performance moved no one. Similarly if Salman khan is so liked then there must be something in him, Probably your writers are still in college & hence feel the need for "meaningful "innuendoed movies like Jhankaar beats to give them a taste of life, Once they grow they'll realize the real meaning of entertainment. People are in theatres to forget work pressures for 3 hours, not to dissect life's mysteries, if that was the case the so-called real actors like rahul Bose ( blank faced, zero talent) should have been number 1. Please learn to accept others choices. I hope you have realized after 9 months of this year and Main Hoon Na & Mujhse Shaadi Karogi & Garv that people want paisa vasool entertainment. Dont hype actresses like Priety Zinta, she is nothing. She is India's No: 1 Social climber-ask Anupama Varma, Bobby Deol, Rani Mukerji, who were her friends when she thot they were on they way up!

Hi Mahek,
I fully and whole heartedly agree with your point of view here.Your comments were on the same page as me so i read your entire comments and agree that rediff's reviews are just getting worse by the day. They are hypocrats trying to fool the public with their whims and fancies.Anyways keep up the good work and i look forward to reading your comments about other movies in the future to come.Kindly drop me a CC whenever you post any comments. My rediff id is himkardubey@rediffmail.com.

Thanks and regards

Himkar

I still wonder y one should waste one's time and money to see such movies if one is not Salman'a ardent fan. Salman is yet to learn acting to the core, not to say of his 'rona' only. Do our producers and directors cannot look for good stories. Enough of such love triangles, accidents, death, sacrifice etc.

dear mrs. rai,
I do think you are the one who has a long way to go. i am not a salman khan fan but i think he was the only one in the movie who did a good job. how can you say he cries all the same, i do think you have to watch all his movies before makeing such an statement. So watch carefully a movie if you do a review and think twice before writing such a bull shit. you better chose another job and if you really need your job than try to learn from your seniors... :) and I think there is no beautiful way to cry, watch some hollywood movies and you will know what i mean.

Patcy needs to be Patched ASAP
by Nandini on Sep 13, 2004 08:23 PM

Fistly you need to patch your professionalism. All you've done is citicize Salman instead of the film. It seems like rediff hires all the idiots and ask them to review movies. The movie was very good with great performances by the entire cast. But since you are biased you've chosen to run down the movie because it has Salman in it. What an idiot. Go back and learn to be professional and leave your hatred behind. It's very apparent.

good show!!
by some1 on Sep 13, 2004 06:36 PM

I havent seen the movie... but i wud like to say that the reviewer has done a decent job. Especially being a first timer. Among all the other rediff reviews i wud say this one was somewhat readable. Unlike other reviews, this one was simple and understandable. The other reviews are written only to flaunt the reviewers' vocabulary.
And a word for u Ms Nair, u better keep up the good work. Dont let the bad comments about ur review discourage u. And all the best to u
