The movie was awful
by Amit on Sep 02, 2004 09:06 PM

The movie had 2 flop coz it was too pathetic. It was not even gripping for a moment. The 1st 40 mins was like a chayageet filled with songs. The movie souldn't have been made in the first place. It was made.. it had to flop. Complete waste of money.

What else can you expect in a third-class country like India ? Films like "Lamhe" and "Dil Se" have flopped in the past. The audience is so illiterate that any deviation from a set formula is not appreciated. Even a sensitive film like "Phir Milenge" is not doing well.
Honestly, Indian audiences do not DESERVE good films. They are meant to watch only bullshits like "Hum Aapke Hain Kaun".

Hey! I don't think you have any right to call India a third class country. And in case you really believe in what you said, you are more than welcome to get out of it immediately and go into a first class country.

And there is no need to bullshit Hum Aapke Hain Koun. Lamhe was a very good movie. In fact it is one of the best hindi films ever made. But HAHK was also a good movie. Your not being able to relate to particular emotions doesn't make it a bad movie. Please REMEMBER that in the future before bull shiting any other movie.

Sorry, I got my maths wrong. India is not in the 3rd Class. Rather its below the 10th Class. Enjoy "sick" movies with all the Lalloos and Mulloos. Its great that DVD Players and VCRs have a feature called "Fast Forward".

Third class country?????

And which country u belong to ? Just that u stay in the country like Us it doesn't mean that u belong there. Everybody need to give lil respect for their country. Because India has produced a guys like u , it's slogging. It's the guys like u who thinks they have reached the milestone if they work for country like US. Even we r in US, it doen't mean we have disrespect where we were born, our Motherland. If we can't give something to the country something ,we have no right to talk like this.

Think b4 u write anything in Public.

India is not a third class country... Infact, I beleive the audience have the right to say which movie is good and bad... becoz the ppl pay the money... anywayz, Dil Se lacked a clear ending and was patchy at the end... Even, if u see the west appreciates movies like Indians do... Titanic was a complete indian movie... a poor boy falling in love with a rich girl... except for the mamooth budget and the setting of titanic...
and I respect the Indian directors for bringing in the values and the traditions of India... and not simply aping the west... good job done by the Karan Johars, SRKs, Yash Chopras... show what is India?? not what we are not??? as in the case of Fida... putting off clothes and so called bold scenes and bold subjects are not what make a good subject... Infact, even today it is the son meeting a mother after 10 years( as in K3G, SRK with Jaya Bahaduri in the shopping mall)that makes the audience cry... and thats what keeps an indian alive... we live by our traditions, our rituals, respect for elders, even showing communcal harmony in most of these so called JOHAR-CHOPRA movies

Alwayz Indian (however, away from India)

why did Fida Flopped

God knows. A very well made film and excellent performances by all. Maybe Shahid was ill suited as he looked a bit immature. Surprise packet was Kareena in a negative role and brilliant acting by Fardeen. Maybe our viewers have still not come of age.

Fida

Indians in general have never been able to digest hard topics and thoughts. A country with a Billion people obviously won't know the difference between quality and quantity. A film industry which has been practicing the ideology of Robin Hood and Hir Ranja for almost a century gets toppled by the Sail of Titanic ( Loe and Kate precisely ). I am not trying to justify Fida's Flop, all I am tryin to say is 'Wake up, Hir Ranja is History........'.

Bhagwaan jaane!
We have downright pathetics films like Garv (whiv=ch I couldn'tbear to even sit thru) & Main Hoon Na becoming hits, while well-made films like Maqbool flop. Even an apology of a film like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi does well. Apparently people like to go & have fun, irrespective of whether anything makes sense or not. Fida was a rather decent film (not that it did not have its share of flaws), was far better than Garv or MSK, but yet fared disastrously. One can be far more accurate with predictions of the weather than the box-office.

hay ..... i totally disagree with what Vikram says...

look...what we are speaking here is about some movie.....what has it got to do with the comment that our country is "Third - class"....thats not fair at all....and yah...the Indian audience are capable enough of deciding what kind of movie is "Worth The Money" they have spent.

This can only happen in india..an Indian calling his country "third class"!! What does it has to do with this? And to put it straight this movie indeed is pathetic. Talking about staying away from "formula", just having different story doesnt put a movie out of "formula". This movie is full of pathetic old forumals..the way shahid falls in love, initial reels between kareena and shahid..its so pathetic and yeah 4 songs in first hour of the movie! and some are saying it was not a typical formula movie? I beg to differ..no wonder the movie flopped.

by Vanitha on Sep 02, 2004 06:48 PM  | Hide replies

1. The movie was HORRIBLE
2. The first half was extremely SLOW and BORING
3. The director was definitely OUT of his MIND.

Fida is a good movie
by Dr. Arindam Sengupta on Sep 02, 2004 06:15 PM

Fida is a good movie so far as art and creativity are concerned. Film is a medium to promote art and creativity. But unfortunately our film industry is within the grip of a kind of irrational illution. Why should real life chemistry between Kareena and Shahid reflect in the movie also ? What is the justification of a tragic end of a movie be considered as the reason behind flop ? But these all are true in our case. B'cos people at large are yet to develop a rationalistic approach in their thinking process.
