Marathi Films
by jeljo on Jun 22, 2004 09:54 PM

I have enjoyed Marathi films in my childhood and wonder why it is the way it is now.

Who can forget Ashok Saraf, Laxmikant Berede, Sachin and team giving cool comedies and as well as serious stuffs as well. Vikram Gokhale is too the most talented actors of his time.

Maybe Kamal can make a difference in his own way. Come on guys give it the support that it deserves

Marathis need not feel shame
by saagar on Jun 22, 2004 09:46 PM

Kamal Hassan has shown what he really feels about Hindi cinema and that probably explains why he is never really accepted as a hero in the north.
When you look at a cinema as a means of culture capturing tool, you can never perform from your heart. Who says that Marathis are giving up their culture to Hindi cinema?
Are there no north Indians in Maharashtra? Arent they not forced to live learn and work in Marathi and do they not do that? Would that mean they are giving up their culture to the Marathis?
Marathis have kicked, insulted, beaten and deported Biharis as if they are nothing but scum.
All because they wanted jobs in Bihar.
If north Indians, gujjus and sindhis left Maharashtra, the economy of that state would be nothing better than that of Bihar.

KH is the greatest of all the actors (perhaps along with shivaji) in India. No match and comparison is just not warranted.

Its all crap what Saagar has written. All non-maharashtrians are here bcoz they get good oppurtunities here and not bcoz they want bring prosperity to Maharashtra.
If saagar is so confident why isnt Bihar or Gujrat as develpoed as Maharashtra?
This ppl have betrayed what Maharashtra had given to them.Shame!
Jai Maharashtra

Kamal Haasan on Marathi Films
by Rajesh Patil on Jun 22, 2004 09:31 PM  | Hide replies

Yes, Kamal:
We Marathis dont have vernacular pride in their own culture and great values like Tamils have. They have succumbed to Hindi aggression and lost the pride in their language, culture and history. The irony is -- if someone speaks about it -- s/he is outcast. They connect such a pride to be terrorist kind of act... anti national--- anti social etc.... This is a pity of the Marathi masses.

Lot more is to be written on this ..... but it is high time now ...that Marathi people should rise and take pride in their own language and culture. It is definately not anti national-- it rather strengthens the nationality. Like a rainbow -- rainbow looks beutiful if all colors in it keep their identity. If every one looses its identity --- there wont be any rainbow and world wont even know that such a marvelous thing ever existed !!!

Thanks a lot Kamal.

Your such a good gesture towards Marathi people make us more proud of you.

Cheers !!!

True Rajesh. But what is more depressing is our own Indian bros. have started dominating and hating our language.Of course we ourselves are responsible for this.We shud fight this nonsense with full zest.
At this moment,we need to capture our position again by electing appropriate MLA's,who will take care of Marathi manoos in Mumbai.
Regards,
Rajev
