I think in this case status quo was not maintained by the participating members. If it is true that producer has promised role in exchange for physical relations then he should have done so. The status quo has been breached. Should he has offered role, the allegation of rape would never has arisen. It is simply a question of delivering in exchange for something. Simple economics. Maintain status quo or be willing to face consequences!
indian cine field, like in any other field , working women can be exploited but it takes two hands to clap.dont the women know what they are getting into?
Point well taken, the starlet in question is no babe in the woods and definately had consensual sex with Bhandarkar, and finally when she did not get her just desserts, she screamed"rape".So far so true. But the issue is that bhandarker who has projected himself as a socially aware filmmker(ignore "aan" as a bad joke),and had ironically made a film on exploitation of women(chandni Bar) by those in positions of power and wealth(men in politics, mafia goons or even the husband!)has gone ahead and done the very same thing! He has abused his position of power(as an acclaimed 'one film wonder')and sexually exploited a willing starlet.Yes the sex was consesual, but she was a willing partner to it,because it came with the promised bonus of a break in bollywood, not because she was attracted to bhandarker(have a close look at his mug!).Bhandarker should hang his head in shame for having done the very thing he exposed(exploitation of vulnurable women)in his film, that very disgusting acto of his smacks of hypocracy and doublespeak, and i will forever question every film he makes , For all practical purposes bhandarkar stands guilty of a crime far more worse than rape.
The probability that Madhur Bhandarkar can rape an upcoming actress increases with this line in the above article-------------------------------------- "The industry's argument in favour of Madhur Bhandarkar is not that he didn't con the actress, but that he doesn't need to do it. 'Madhur doesn't need to rape, he has no shortage of women,' they say."
he knows that he's gonna get the above feedback from the bollywood; hence , the result ///
Apparently it's a case of a vindictive model trying to get back for possible promises not kept. The press should not get overtly involved in sleaze for voyeristic pleasures. If this indeed is an equal world, exploitation of men by scorned women should also not be encouraged. Let the model and the director be for she flirted with 'danger' and now dropped the 'd' to flirt with anger. No big deal.
