I saw Okkadu after seeing gilli, as i know Gilli was a remake. But the Hero in Okkadu was very Kiddish. Vijay had all the expression & the right time of delivery of dialouges.
I saw all the messages about gilli. I have seen okkadu also. Yes this movie is an absolute remake of okkadu, but what I felt was, the hero's role was justified only by Vijay. Mahesh looks too childesh to do that role. His chocklate boy face didn't suit for that role, but for Vijay it suited well. It is just a good entretainer. Thatz it.

you are angry because tamil cinema is going places. okkadu was serious till end. gilli had great ending and that hero was sick in telgu. vijay is fantastic. the author has also done justice to the movie he has seen. he hasn't reviews for the movie that he hasn't seen. appreciate work if not don't be biased you gooses.
I wasn't a fan of Vijay & have only seen 1 or 2 of his movies. But the movie GILLI has changed all my opinions. Inspite of some not-to-be believed stunts, Gilli is a wonderful movie. Performances of Vijay, Janaki Sabesh, Jennifer, Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidhyarthi & Thrisha is really good. Now we expect more good films from Vijay.
Admitted the movie is fast paced, but personifying Vijay as Rajnikant is an insult to the veteran. Vijay is majorly hyped and all his films have the same mannerisms and "warnings" to the other heroes in the race. Gilli works purely due to Gunasekar's original story and Dharani's excellent command over mass appeals as well as technical expertise.
Hello, I want to share my feeling on this film Gilli as I have seen both movies Okkadu and Gilli. Ofcourse every one must be knowing that Gilli is a remake of Telugu superhit film Okkadu. In okkadu Mahesh babu acted as hero. He was brilliant in that film. In my opinion this tamil flick Gilli is not at all comparable to this film in telugu. Iam sure that you will also have the same opinion if you see the telugu version. Music for the telugu film is composed by Manisarma. when it comes to music also telugu one is most superior to tamil flick. In my opinion no one can make remakes like the original ones whether it is from telugu to tamil or tamil to telugu.
Its just a bit-t0-bit remake of telugu film with slight changes of locations... nothing more than that.. if u didnt watched telugu version, u can go fot it...
Did you see telugu version of Gilli ?. After reading your review, I got an impression that Gilli is a scene to scene and dialouge to dialogue copy of Okkadu (Telugu). Whats that you are raving about ? For telugu version they constructed Charminar set spending Rs. 2.5 crores and the total film cost is estimated to be more than Rs. 12 crores. You have to watch the original movie to know how well it is made.
In your review you praised the technical wizardry in Tamil cinema, Which is just a rehash of technical wizardry of telugu cinema.
BTW, Did you hear Songs for both versions (Telugu and Tamil) ? Better buy the audio album of okkadu...
I personally liked okkadu songs than Gilli songs. I am very much sure that you will say the same after hearing them
