Kargil....LOC

The men of Kargil Deserves better... I agree with the Point.

But how can you compare a film with different films..like "Pearl Harbour".

What I belive is Mr. Dutta tried to show in the LOC...

"The brave Indian Army which can goto any tough situation to save our nation." which we civilians can't even imagine.

He has given the message.."Before we forget...."

You can indeed feel the pains of Indian soldiers who are fighting to save our country...away from there Home...loved ones...

Just Salute them... Instead of arguments...

hollywood hollywood hollywood !!! is that all that u think about...lets face it..bollywood still has a long way to go to become hollywood..
just the fact that dutta had the determination to make a film that highlighted our kargil martyrs in the face of the meaningless crap being churned out is praiseworthy...do u know how much trouble the actors must have gone through while shooting scenes from that place??cant u at least acknowledge that?
ok fine it may not b a private ryan..but who cares..what we care about is the plight our war heroes went through while you ripped films to shreds...and dutta has done just that...if he wanted to make a documentary he would have just that..now that he has made the "Mistake!!" of making it a film..why dont u go ahead and make a documentary that would entertain us..dutta spent a lot of his time researching and finding out facts about our soldiers and this is what u have to say to him?make a documentary!!well,we all knew that he was gonna make a film on kargil soldiers..why did u not suggest ur documentary idea to him before he started shooting??

I agree

I agree, LOC looks much like Border part II. Instead of a mega starrer he could just have taken 1 or 2 main characters and woven the entire movie around them.

I also agree that I cannot remember any movie that comes near to Saving Private Ryan in terms of reality. First half an hour is the best.

I would like to see that quality in Indian war movies.

Indian soldiers DO deserve better.

...and maa**** behen*** in the same breath? Give me a break, our soldiers can't be as foul mouthed as it is portrayed in the movie. The foul words uttered repeatedly must be a record for any war movie, unless there happen to be movies made on the other side of the border to better it! JP has made a mockery of our soldiers by making the actors resort to such vulgar language and it is tragic even the union cabinet is savouring it.

LOC

I beg to differ on Arnab's views. It is very easy to criticize. Taking a bold step to make a movie on this issue itself is praiseworthy. I wonder what has Arnab ever done personally on the Kargil issue besides criticizing efforts of others and saying "The men of Kargil deserve better".

not true
by Mr.realist on Dec 28, 2003 08:21 PM

Mr. Arnab,

This is in refernce to your saying that enemy at the gates was an emotional movie. I am a junior historian at aachen Univ. and as far as I know the love story of the hero( zaitsev) and the girl was all fiction. they were comrades. besides they didnt meet each other ever again. On the other hand, LOC Kargil, is not exagerated, and all shown there is real. It is exactly the kind of propoganda movie the masses need.

Bad review. LOC is excellent.

Mr. Arnab, you seem to be too obsessed with Hollywood movies. Why are you comparing LOC with any Hollywood movie. Our sensibilities don't match with theirs. Saving Private Ryan is a good movie and LOC is also a good movie. You are one of the many people who think that what Hollywood makes has to be good and what Bollywood makes has to be bad. Most of Hollywood are junk.

Please do not this

For Kargil heros, JP had worked for two year on his movie. He worked everyway to make it authentic and real for them.

He put his two years of life to make an attempt and U put ur 5 minutes to sum up it. What he has done is 1000 times better than ur 5 minute (reviewing the Movie) efforts for Kargil heros.

I dont know about you Sir. But I watched the movie & it is a nice piece of art. May be, it might not be 90% true, but it told me some facts which i didnt know. So if the director is able to convey even 10%. I think he is successful.

May be you cant agree with his kind of cinema. Similarly i dont agree with your kind of review. If you like Johar's, Chopra's & Bhansali. Wake UP!

They sell dreams not reality. I am totally inspired from the movie. may be you are not. but think of the effort and the luxuries you all share, becuz of the sacrifices made by Manoj Pandey, Anuj Nayyar, Vikram Batra and lot many.

Arre! Dont go for the movie, go for the Sacrifices the all made and the efforts our stars put in to make it to be visualised by us.

It is easy to write and say than to do. Criticism comes... but not like this. It was so easy for you to write off the movie without even giving a thought that how much effort and life they all had put in.

I wont say much, but i just request you, dont misuse your knowledge.

Tell me, has Khalid M of Fiza been able to meet the viewrs expectations.

WAKE UP... Cheers, Manish.
I give movie a 5 star rating & request viewers to watch it.

Dear friends,
First of all I likes border and since its from the same director I think this should be good. But I don't think I would agree with the views that say "watch the movie for our soldiers". Do our soldiers benefit from the revenues the film makes ? If some amount of money goes for the benefit of the soldiers then I will not go alone but take my whole family to watch it. No offenses sir but if this movie makes money, which I believe it will, and a large amount doesn't go to the Jawans, then sir the director simply played on the emotions of the masses and made a hell lot of money, Actors might have charged probably no money thats why hes got hell of a star cast.
