Banking Scams
by applicant on Oct 10, 2018 10:08 PM

It is fairly obvious that there was a quid pro quo ( you scratch my back and I will scratch your back) in that VIdeocon got massive loan approvals and in return invested exactly 10% into Kochhar\'s Company through the Mauritius route. Then they quietly sold back the shares at almost zero value to Kochhar. This is the trend in all banks - here it was a husband-wife team, in other cases it will be more distant relatives or friends in these kinds of Benami transactions. It is laughable the way Kochhar is being defended as the obvious is overlooked by her supporters. At this rate there will never be a single guilty person even though Bank scams have crossed INR 3 Lakh Crores and the Govt will only remonetize these scammed banks - the entire remonetization will be from taxes paid by you and I. In future we can look forward to a \"scam surcharge\" which will be more suitably worded \"bank remonetization surcharge\" and the criminal, the politician and the banker will all be drinking themselves silly with the looted money which they will enjoy in Star hotels, exotic holidays, fancy cars, expensive jewelry/clothes, expensive education and ostentatious functions. Honest people like us can only write comments in blogs like this as the executive, judiciary and politicians are all corrupt.

Why Chanda quit now
by mandook raj on Oct 10, 2018 07:50 AM

The entire article is a contrived effort of a sympathiser to defend her, for the statement that she was not legally bound to quit comes from a former financial institution official and not apparently from a legal expert. Why this sustained campaign even before the enquiry report is out?

Question to ICICI- Will they approve loan to a wife whose husband has done a default in home loan or car loan and as per law she is still married with the same man and living with him.. The answer summarizes it up.

CHANDA MUST BE HONEST
by Shilpa Mehta on Oct 09, 2018 12:09 PM  | Hide replies

Truth will prevail when Shrikrishna committee
will submit final report & Chanda will get
CLEAN CHIT . Such an excellent & honest lady .

Without honesty & acumen one cannot be at such a top post , I think some external & ill interest people are behind this scandal & deliberately dragging her name .

She must be saying the truth that she does not know dealings between Videocon , NuPower & Firstland .

In such a top professional world , wife may not necessarily know all the dealings of her husband .

FOR EXAMPLE : NEETA AMBANI IS ALSO A TOP BUSINESS WOMAN . DOES SHE KNOWS ALL THE INVESTMENT PLANNING , DEALINGS , CURRENT BUSINESS
PORTFOLIOS , ETC ETC OF HER HUSBAND MUKESH
AMBANI ??

N0 ---- THEN ??

Yes Shilpa. That is true. We people tend to project the way we interact with our spouses and family into their world and wonder - How could she not know? But that is incorrect. Having known and read about Chanda KOchar M'am for long I think she would have only known about the loan to NuPower and may have had no idea of what is happening between NuPower and her husbands company. And in case it was not a straight deal why would her husband even inform her about it

ICICI bank under the legendary K.V.Kamath functioned in a very honest manner providing world class services to customers. Once his successor took over, in very short time the Bank became very aggressive in its approach with its staff given stiff targets to sell Mutual funds & Insurance policies. This has lead to ambush mktg & misselling without any remorse. The customer service is very bad because the staff is eager to sell MF & Insurance targets. So who shud be held responsible for this sorry state ?? In todays corporate world it is honesty that gives promotions. Ambitious attitude to succeed at any cost is what matters - unfortunately . This why we see large scale scams being reported in large corporates. MBA culture has spoiled the character of business ethics. In this case its the husband who is turned out to be a nincompoop but its difficult to accept that she was not aware of his financial dealings while staying in the same house. So do not blindly support the lady.

Good thoughts regarding 'law' and 'morality'
by ARVIND DESAI on Oct 09, 2018 11:16 AM

I fully agree with Mr Murlidharan. Law only tells us what NOT to do. It does not tell us what we should do. The utterly misplaced assertions by politicians and media persons elevating the constitution to level of Dharma-granths have created this atmosphere where people only think about whether or not they are on the wrong side of the law. They do not think as to what is their 'Kartavya' in a given situation. This has made today's world a highly toxic place, Chanda Kochar's being yet another prominent example and yet another stark reminder for all of us the EXTREMELY URGENT need to revive the sense of reverence to Dharma.
