@Suresh: Excellent point. When the British ruled India, did they extend to Indians their own standards of judicial processes, their own standards of legal rights, and their own standards of prison?

The only assurance India should give to the UK is that India will extend the same prison standards to Mallya, as the British themselves extended to all their subjects across the world during the their colonial heydays.
Let him stay in a Taj Mahal Hotel suite instead. It's a shame that by running away to UK he becomes an unequal before the law. If crime was committed in India, he should get same treatment as other get here. Let UK government pay his dues and then let him live in Buckingham Palace. Makes us ashamed being Indians in India!!!
Surprised why is India bending to UK terms to extradite the fraudster who duped Indian banks and KF employees. He shoudl be treated like a roadside rowdy sheeter and provided same amenities. This act of Indian court appears all scamsters will be have a vip treatment in the jails, with mobiles, biryanis, airconditioners and other facilities to follow. We donot agree.

Why western loo? A persone who is common or special should be fearfull about jail n treatment anyone can get in jail before commiting any crime...if u will provide vip treatment to criminals then how will they get scared of jail?
