Noble prize for Rajan
by k lakshminarayana on Oct 09, 2017 12:04 PM

Rajan is credited with predicting world recession of 2007-09, 3 years ahead.
But Rajan could not do any such predictions for India during his long years of association with India.

a) He could not predict and advice Indian Government on practical difficulties during implementation of demonetization. He was kept in the demo loop from early 2016 itself. Rajan has never said no to demo and even today is not a fierce critic of demo.

b)He could not resist from imposing very strict NPA norms and as a result most of the PSBs ended up red. Basle norms for NPAs is of international standards which can't be straight away imposed for India, forgetting the ground realities. Rajan failed to look through the problem from this angle on NPAs.

c) He was not wholeheartedly for MUDRA loans for small entrepreneurs. But this is the only way for creating employment in our country, wherein job creation is a big challenge.

Still he may be awarded Noble prize because he has.....
a) embarrassed Modiji
b) projected India in poor light internationally

If awarded Noble, Rajan will remain an eternal critic of India like Amartya Sen.

This is the reason why people despise media

This is the reason why people in India despise media.

Gossip and make believe fiction and trivia. Guess nowhere on this planet is media is so trivial ,full of wind and worthless as in INdia.

Rediff case is even worse. They treat every thing like some C grade Rajnikanth pot boiler and want every one to get excited to their idiotic stories and cr@p.

Raghuram Rajan & Nobel Prize
by KRISHNAMURTHY V on Oct 09, 2017 08:55 AM  | Hide replies

It was this crook, under whose nose, all the banks under the RBI increased their NPAs tremendously, and some like Mallya were allowed to flee the country. It was this western educated crook, who put the spanners in the wheels of the Mudra Plan, which would have given loans to the poor and marginalised society to become self-employed and saved the very small traders like vegetable and fruit vendors, milk vendors etc from the huge interest they pay to private money lenders (sometimes as high as 365%) ; this was just to 'trouble' Modi on the behest of his master P.chidambaram. It was in his tenure at the RBI, that the country witnessed 'doctored' GDP growth, due to huge increase of prices of gold, property etc, without subsequent increase in job creation.

If Nobel Prize is given to this crook, the 'fame' of the Prize will be lowered for sure.

Dear Sir, In what way Mr Rajan was responsible to allow Mr Mallaya to flee the country. He had been the head of finance regulator. It is the job of Central Govt. Since 1970s the government has been introducing various schemes namely a few SUME Scheme for Urban Micro Enterprises, SEPUP - Scheme for Urban Poor, SEEUY for Urban youth, PMRY Rozgar Youjana, IRDP Integrated Rural Dev Program for Agriculture and so many for self employment of Urban & Rural. Clubbing all under one head MUDRA with some modifications applicable to micro enterprises, small traders etc with subsidy.
It is being classified under existing Priority sector advances 40% total loan lending in a year. Clubbing old wine in various bottles in one bottle.

However, it would be rather a chiding for the saffron management, particularly after his departure from the central bank.

writing english will not make you chanakya. you need to think broadly. there should not be any hue-n-cry for his departure as every govt has right to appoint his man in position. practically,he is a good economist but i don think he deserve this much. in fact having him in the list is enough. and who knows he is in the list because of influence of that so called management you mentioned.

Economics in west is largely loan driven. ppl spend more there. In India ppl save more and spend less. If he gets an award it is not for his role as RBI governor. But his finance practice based in US.

Raghuram Rajan winning the Nobel prize, Jagadish Bhagawathy, already sore to the core with jealousy at Amartya Sen winning the prize earlier, would die standing when he hears the news !
