Not to merge the Public Sector Banks which is a prelude to privatise this massive nation\'s assets - to throw the asset into private hands. b. Support the PSBs through requisite capital infusion. c. Implement tougher laws and regulations for recovery of bulged NPAs - loans taken by so called efficient \"Private Sector\" undertakings not repaid - like a few Vijay Mallyas etc.
They have foregone today\'s salary to express protest against wrongful Government policies in the name of banking sector reforms which are as per the advise of western consultants like Mckinsey and Earnst & Young. These agencies could not save the banks in UK & USA during sub-prime crisis and have come to preach Indians to dismantle 5 decade old banking system of our country which withstood sub-prime ripples without any hurt. The public may try to understand that mergers will lead to rationalisation (read closure) of so many bank branches. The existing staff will be rationalised - invariably through a VRS. If Loss making Public Sectors Industries were closed earlier why not close loss making Public sector banks.The Banks say that they have non Performing assets.Bank assets are Currency assets with RBI Governor's signature and the "I promise to--" The Currency asstes have never reported as not honoured.Then how can the bank call their assets non performing.The lonee might have mismanaged wrongly managed the use of these currency .The performance of the lonee is mot performance of the Banks Assets.The banks and its system must be made answerable to its wrong deeds in the banking Sector that there is no enough money to lend.All loss making entities are to be closed .That is BUSINESS.
