NPA
by mukaddim hussain on Aug 04, 2016 11:22 AM

All praises to those who indulged in giving loans to large corporates (wilful defaulters also) not to be able thereafter to recover them under some pretext or other! Those individuals are praised by the govt. and others.

NPA means not irrecoverable
by WILSON CHANDRAN on Aug 03, 2016 10:40 PM

NPAs increased: Exports was negative till May 16, for about 20 months time. Manufacturing sector was negative since mid 2014. Agri sector failed due to poor monsoon. Most companies in India have shown lesser profits for many quarters. Except only one private bank all other private banks have shown either lesser profits or loss. Similarly top 5 nationalised banks have shown loss and other banks have shown lesser profits. Increase in NPAs are for the past two years only. When the country as a whole does not perform how do you expect the lending banks could perform. When a education loanee does not get a job how will he able to repay. When an agriculturist does not get the yield how can he repay. When an industry does not earn profit how do you expect he could perform.
Nationalised bank DEPOSIT & ADVANCE GROWTH IN 2014 WAS 14.2% and 13.9% whereas in 2016 it is 3.1% and 1.4% and in 2015 it was 7.5% & 7.8%. This decline in public saving and borrowing reflect the stress in Banking syestem.
After 19 months time Manufacturing and export sectors have shown a positive growth during the month of June 16. If continues the banks could recover the NPAs and profitability will also be more than previous years. As once NPAs are recovered to that extent provisions kept will also be released and the profitability will also be more.

BANKS ARE BEING WORSE AND WORSE
by yogesh singh on Aug 03, 2016 07:30 AM

EXAMPLE OF PUBLIC SECTOR BANK: LOAN TO WINE SELLER IN AIRLINES SECTOR TO SINK THE BANK. HIGHER OFFICIALS LOOK ONLY AT COMMISSION/OWN INTEREST DURING APPROVAL OF LOAN. VILLAGE OR TOWN EVERYWHERE, EVEN IN GOVT SPONSORED SCHEME BANK OFFICIALS THINKS FOR COMMSSSION. PEOPLE ARE SITTING FOR THEIR PERSONAL BENEFIT WITH CLOSED EYES. SOME PEOPLE ARE TAKING COMMSSION DURING SANCTIONING OF LOAN, DURING SETTLEMENT OF NPA OR DOING WRONG THINGS FOR THEIR OWN PROMOTION. NEED OF TODAY:- ENHANCE INTEGRITY AND TRANSPARENCY

Not promoted by herself
by Chinna - Gurappa on Aug 02, 2016 09:09 PM  | Hide replies

She has not promoted the bank to become powerful women. She is getting name because she has become Chairman of the Bank. But what is the improvement done after she took over as Chairman. Whether NPAs has come down. If so she may be praised. Media is making un-necessary issue on the matter.

Media & Politicians painted Mallya the sole culprit of 9000 crores but no one questioned what these bankers were doing when giving loan of 4000 crores against Kingfisher Logo ? Is this is reward being given to SBI chairman ?
