That does not mean that man can throw jumlas to fool people and ride on previous govts failures. 3100 farmers committed suicide in single year of BJP maharastra rule. Forget ache din, let him make farmers not committing suicide.

Rural India is moving to big townships because TV ads show prosperity in cities. Cities are growing many fold .... Ask banks to open branches in villagers or ask doctors to treat patients there.... or transfer an IT man to village... Farmers are migrating to cities. Those who could not adapt - chose suicide.
Writer seems to have got the facts and realities totally wrong... it looks like a paid article.
Modi's idea is to double the nett income of farmers, i.e. bottomline... not just the top-line. This can be possible with crop rotation, rainwater harvesting, scientific farming, inorganic manure, better farmer-consumer reach, by-passing the hoarders etc.
And anything that is written against Modi is a sure article in Rediff

you are 100 % correct and all these blind authors with rediff are sailing in the same boat which is abandoned. Any body who writes against this will prove that their critic is waste
Our 80% voters are in rural areas. They are most neglected lot compared to urban dwellers, living with all facilitys. If farmers-rural folks are to be allowed to grow besides other facilities they alone shud be entitle to reservation.. City dewellers do not require benifits of reservation.. This is the only way rural people will get a natural boost to be uplifted..
THERE ARE ONLY ABOUT 108 MILLION FARMERS(CULTIVATORS).Small and marginal holdings taken together (below 2.0 ha) constitute 84.97% of the total holdings (70% in 1953-54) forming 44.31% of the total operated area up from 16.3% in 1953-54. SMALL FARMING IS NOT REMUNERATIVE.Several studies during 1970s and 1980s concluded that farm size and productivity were inversely related, and small farmers were more productive than large farmers. However, based on the experience of western countries and development models, it is widely believed that this superiority of the smallholders cannot be sustained in the long run. As per capita income rises, economies diversify and workers leave agriculture and wage rates go up. The per capita income of the agriculture population is estimated around Rs. 10,865 in 2010, which is around 32% of the national per capita income at Rs. 33,802. Per capita income of the agriculture population was around half (1/2) at Rs. 5,505 of the national per capita income at Rs. 11,433 during 1980 however, it came down to around 42% at Rs. 6,652 of the national per capita income at Rs. 16,020 during 2000. This goes on to show that as the country’s economy gets bigger and better , the small and marginal farming is not does not provide economic prosperity for these family farmers. This has resulted in farmers getting involved in other economic activities to keep pace with the economic growth and rise in per capita income.
If you carefully analyse, what Modi ji has said can become a reality. He has stressed on too many issues which can help a farmer to double his income in 6 years.
He has talked about bringing more land under cultivation.Presently, fertile land is being left uncultivated for many reasons. He has talked about value addition. This is a very serious and real possibility.
He has talked about improving soil health, more irrigation facilities, multiple crops, better marketing facilities, dismantling brokers lobby etc etc.
If the Central Govt and all the State Govts sincerely implement what Modiji has in mind, it is possible to double the income in 5-6 years.
Instead of ridiculing everything what Modi says, out of political considerations, we should look at it with all seriousness. At least his intentions are good. If not doubled, even a 40-50% increase in 6 years will go a long way in changing farmers' life.

Mr. Useless Comments urs are always useless comments who cares and its a waste of time to read your comments as your name is useless comments. may be mouna gurusamy of khan grass may appreciate you and your comment
As the article says, under Congress the farmers got a 9% increase in food prices every year. Yet a large number of them must have voted BJP in 2014. They got paid back by the Land Bill Amendments, masterminded by Gadkari and Modi and with 3.7% increase in prices ! Who are we supposed to blame if they are now in deep trouble ?
The present growth rate is bellow 2%, our Hon PM Modiji announced that he wishes to increase the same to 20%, as usual what he has announced is without any homework or the plan to do it, this is another ploy to fool the farmer. Why is he not comming out with a workable and realistic programme to stop farmers suicides? Is he not aware that more than 8000 farmers have committed suicides in his tenure of 22 months?
Pls explain your numbers in this as usual-anti-Modi-rhetoric spewed by hare-brained fellows at rediff. Why does agri need to grow at 15%. Totally wrong even by basic 7th Standard arithmetic. And Modi is not talking about just revenues, but revenues-expenses. That is definitely realizable, by 2022. Did he not prove that in Gujarat ? Check out the Agri growth in Gujarat and the income growth in Gujarat ! But then, folks cannot just live in the theories of give-me-handouts-and-I-will-not-use-my-brain logic - as it is a bane in some of the most lazily run states like UP, Bihar and Orissa. Go with the SOil-health-card-based renewal of your agri-land, go with modern methods of farming that are now available and are being explained in the Kisaan Channel launched by NaMo, go with the crop-insurance scheme, backed by govt support in prices of all agri produce including pulses (that were ignored and neglected by the corrupt UPA regime), and doubling can be achieved, of net-income, not revenues alone. Did author go and ask the agriculture ministry as to how that is achievable. Or they, like most scribes in New Delhi, just write anti-Modi stuff sitting in their drawing rooms in Delhi or at that den of corruption among scribes - the India International Center in Delhi.

Well said! At least Modi has the brains unlike the corrupt Congress and its friend the Communists who are always finding faults with Modi.
The vast majority of temples have lands which were supposed to be cultivated. But over time these lands were occupied and used as houses. Let the lands be used for agriculture by auctioning the land and renting it out to corporate farming. See the difference and rise in income.

How many temple lands have you come across? Why are you posting useless comments.Farmers have their private lands and our PM is trying to make agriculture a profitable business so that our farmers do not commit suicides on account of debts.
