Rediff running a virtual slander campaign
by KrishnaKarimSingh DeSouza on May 22, 2015 12:15 PM  | Hide replies

Since last fortnight one can see that rediff has been running a virtual non stop slandering campaign against Modi; anyone who has any negative or damaging or derogatory thing to say against the PM will be welcomed and would find a space in rediff's news portal. In spite of all the damage cause by the senseless and ludicrous rule of the Kongress in the last 10 years where they systematically ripped apart the flourishing economy that the inherited only for their personal gains, rediff had only loads of praise and admiration for them. Surprising that rediff could not come across any person who felt bitter about the maladministration or arrogance then. Talk about faithfulness !!!!

Let us talk logic and facts. Do not personify. If Modi has failed, he has failed. That has nothing to with how many people voted for him.

Hmm! so saying failure, failure twice is logic and fact eh ?
Now here are the facts :In June 2004, India was surging ahead. The economy was in cruise mode: The growth rate nicely picking up (eight per cent), inflation (four per cent overall, two per cent food), the budget deficit (under four per cent) and the current account (surplus of two per cent) all well under control. In 2014, India was sputtering to reach a five per cent growth rate for the second year in a row. The finance minister held his red line of budget deficit at 4.6 per cent by ruthlessly cutting out planned development and defence expenditure and leaving the burden of current year’s unbent subsidies for the next government, something he had done last year as well.
The current account deficit was ‘manageable’ at 2.5 per cent only in comparison to the previous year’s five per cent. Inflation, especially in food articles, hovered around 80 percent. These are factsl

Between 1999-2004 average growth rate was between 4-5 whereas during 2004-14 average growth rate was over 8%, while many countries shown negatives to not more than 3%. 2015 years growth is just extension of previous govt budget & policies. Actual performance of this Govt could be assessed after March 2017. If same policies are continued with good monitoring, less corruption India could perform better. But present days speeches of this govt are mere exaggeration- self boosting but not reliable.

Just a query out of inquisitiveness Mr. Wilson.....everyone knows that India has never achieved a growth rate of more than 8 percent. So if the average growth rate as per you is eight from 2004-14, that would mean India achieved growth rate of more than 10 percent in the intervening periods because they hit less than three in 2013-14.
Just out of curiosity ...... do you really want people to believe that or you are simply ignorant and just throwing up imaginary figures ?

between 2008-12 the growth rate was between 9-10 while it declined after 2013. Refer records. Chidambaram was in the Fin ministry, worked under various PMs but you have adversely commented agst him. I referred past whereas you stand for unknown future.

Promises vs Expectation
by lahiri alokesh on May 22, 2015 11:44 AM  | Hide replies

The hype in publicity created by NDA during their election campaign has created a huge expectation.People from all works of life- farmers, middleclass , businessman had started to expect radical changes. But after one year, the business class does not see any major reforms and FDIs are not finding the Tax regime suitable for business. The common perceptions developing are:1)There are more promises than delivery at ground level, 2)Reforms as expected are not coming, 3)Black money at Foreign Banks cannot be tackled in near future (leave aside bringing back Black Money),4)Retracting hardened stance of NO TALKS with Pakistan created doubts. Moreover raising of Pakistan Flag in Kashmir, intrusion of Chinese Army into Indian territory acted in negative,5)Mistrust generated amongst farmars regarding Land Reform Bill. All these aspects needs to be looked into and BJP has to reorient its goals and targets in line with the people's demand.Time is running out!!!

What do the congress know
by KrishnaKarimSingh DeSouza on May 22, 2015 10:48 AM

Having seen the turnaround and the upbeat mood of the nation and the optimism of the international community, the congresses know in their heart that at the end of this term they will be completely annihilated and the name of the party shall only figure in history books.
In spite of Chidu's gallant efforts to leave the Indian economy in shambles in his last budget, (a state which otherwise would have taken minimum five years to even give it any semblance of stability for any honest govt., Modi has turned it around in less than one year, thanks to the falling petroleum prices and a judicious economic and development plan. The foreign exchange reserves have touched record heights, the sensex shows bullish trend, the wholesale price index has gone negative, the international rating agencies revising India's rating upwards; a general feel good factor all around except the opposition seems to be having a completely divergent view. One wonders do they really feel that they were providing a utopian environment in their last ten years of loot, anarchy, lies, maladministration and plunder ???

Modi@1: Running out of luck on the economy
by msubramanian tdr on May 22, 2015 10:40 AM

The caption is wrong......He is running with LUCK due to steep fall in international crude oil prices.....but failed to capitalise the same. Too much talk.....always.....will raise the expectation level and even the performer will be under rated. Talk less....perform more and allow the people to talk. Rupee is sliding, Production level is moving towards south and naturally GDP will come down. Price rise is very high except interest on Fixed Deposits. Increase in Bank's NPA portfolio is alarming. Talks are more....more....more and more about NRI investments. In the last one year, How much have been committed ? How much have been announced ? How much have poured in !!!!Let us look at the end result. Repeat.....Talk less.....perform more in larger interest.

Lawyers always like a good fight.
by Vijay Sahani on May 22, 2015 10:06 AM  | Hide replies

I have always maintained that Arun Jaitley is under rated as a lawyer and over rated as a politician. Same goes for Kapil Sibal and many others in both BJP and Congress. Lawyers tend to lood at things from legal perspective. True politicians look at things from human perspective. Too many lawyers spoil the broth (or whatever it is they are cooking)!

False article.
by Debasis Sarcar on May 22, 2015 10:05 AM

The author seem to be strongly biased against the BJP Govt. Effects are already been seen at ground levels. Infrastructure projects are on track. Power crisis has reduced & our roads, markets, stations are cleaner. Social security schemes for the poor like medical & insurance has already been commenced. What else can one expect in a year's time. For Black money bills have already been passed & SIT is formed. Transparent coal & Spectrum auctioned generated crores for the Govt.

Modi Govt has good intentions and strong will & passion to perform and bring India on sound economic path. However, till he manages (a) cunning beureaucracy (b) price labelling malls who simply double the original prices (c) make all corporates to regulate their payment systems (they should be enlisted in CIBIL for default in payment) which will ensure payment cycle works properly and all SME work properly & jobs, revenue & economy grow. Modi govt should focus on these points to show deliverance

All are ready to criticize at the slightest drop of their hat.... whereas these guys were finding excuses for the MMS government when he was not doing anything to make the government work... now these guys want immediate results..we indians were so steeped in corruption and lazyiness it will be difficult for anyone to turnaround our attitude in one year which to certain extent modi was able to do just because by his sheer hard work and nothing else...
