This writer is nothing but an insurance seller. Ask his company to quote a premium for a farmer with a 1 acre plot and he will quote half the farmer's annual income in a good year. And he wonders as to why more than a billion farmers in India and China do not buy insurance.

"Very few Europeans would rely on chillies and limes."

However what the writer will not explicitly say is that insurance is basically a state-funded mafia in Europe. Life insurance premium for Rs. 1 Crore cover in India costs Rs 20000 annually for a normal 25 year old. In Europe, it costs more than 10 times. Why? Because this insurance is funded by the state and, as everywhere, no one cares when something goes out of the pocket of the government. They want to lobby and create a similar market for insurance products in India and China.

Truth has been spoken. But the problem is no one, especially politicians will try to understand this. Social security is misused by immigrants to such an extent in Europe that the next generation Europeans have nothing left for their social security even after slogging their entire life. India will inevitable head the same way if we do not customize development to suit Indian conditions and do not learn from Western mistakes.

State of Farmers in China and India
by SUBRAMANIAN VANJIAPPAN on Jan 22, 2015 01:52 AM  | Hide replies

Both nations are blindly follows the policy of Industrialisation with a call for ' Make in their country sell it every where' . All chemicals/leathers/components/ dyed cloths are made and exported leaving the home land unsuitable for cultivation and human living. Rest of world enjoys pollution free products in exchange of pieces of printed paper ( called currencies), Funny isn't. India and China can make many things to this world , but no body and no country can feed their people other than their own farmers. The question is when leaders and Economists of these nations will realise? Make Agri, an economically viable profession , All other things will be automatically made.

China realized that the problem is not with population and that is why they are relaxing their one child policy on way to completely removing it. Demography is a plus for any society. European are on the verge of becoming extinct like neanderthals due to limiting population growth and importing people from outside to provide for the retired workforce.

RBI printed just 10,000 rupees cash per head in India. To curb poverty RBI should print more cash without raising the inflation and tell Modi regime to let each state in India to have its own currency.

Farmers in India do not get proper price for selling
by samudra blr on Jan 21, 2015 12:58 PM

Apart from challenges faced in uncertain farming , Indian farmers do not get a proper price for their hard earned crop.

Government only interested in giving subsidized food grains without increasing the minimum support price. Most people are leaving villages and migrating to urban areas due to this loss in farming.

There are no opportunities for farmers to directly export farm produce overseas in order to get better rate.

It is time for state and central governments to work for the welfare of farming community and give them better price to sell their produce.
